I live in Cornwall in the UK.

We get everything last and the government spends nothing on anything.

However I just found out that my area has been enabled for 100mbit Fibre!!! (FTTH).

Some people already have it and they are syncing at 107mbit and downloading at just over 10MB/S!!!!!

This is amazing, for £28 a month.

I plan to buy the most expensive one with super high data allowance / unlimited, and am already thinking of getting another line installed which would be mental, i can then pair them with a good router!

OMG so chuffed!

Wait, £28 @ 100Mbps and no limit?

NBN, announced April 2009. One suburb in Victoria is wired up:

I can't comprehend some countries still having data limits considering we haven't had one since the days of the dial-up.

Most finnish operators are currently introducing data transfer limits to wireless connections

Verizon and AT&T in the U.S. also have limits now on their wireless data plans and have for about a year now after having had unlimited for however long before, now there is no unlimited plan whatsoever with them, the only way to still get unlimited is to get with Sprint or one of it's own smaller companies like Virgin Mobile, but Sprint's network is comparably shitty and spotty anyway compared to the other two.

Despite Comcast's data cap their speeds and reliability have always been good.  I am paying $40 a month for these speeds.

Edit: I would have a faster speed boost but I am nearly maxing out my docsis 2.0 modem.  They do have docsis 3 but I never requested the modem even though I had the option.

You don't have to get one from them, you can buy your own and then you wouldn't even have to pay them anymore to rent the modem from them.

Look on Newegg for some, they're pretty affordable now I think and from what I've read DOCSIS 3.0 is way better than 2.0, especially with the new packet coalescing feature it brings.  Quite a few people were actually getting above the speed they were paying for from some of the reviews I was reading.

At the moment i am on three and i get faster internet on my galaxy ace than my home connection.

Yet i dont get a signal in my house (FML).

Porn would be nice but not the priority, i have actually been thinking of starting my own hosting business, i could do this from home with a few 100mbit lines from different ISP's!

I don't think Comcast allows anyone to legally sell the same docsis 3 modems they provide.  I'm not even sure Comcast allows you to purchase the unit outright.  When you approach an MSO with a new unit, they will ask you the model and mac.  If the model isn't on their approved list, you'll have a tough time getting them to okay it.  If the modem is on the approved list but the mac doesn't match their records of what they have been shipped, you'll have a tough time getting them to okay it.  I think right now the only docsis 3 residential gateways Comcast provides are the hybrid data/voice gateways, but I could be wrong.

That might be new then, because there's quite a few reviews on Newegg of DOCSIS 3.0 modems where they bought it there for Comcast

From what one guy said, all you have to do is call them and ask them to release the lease and then give it to the new modem or something like that.  Sucks for Comcast customers, on the Verizon ones, you can release and renew the lease from right in the modem's control panel when you want to upgrade to a new one.  Then again you have very few choices anyway with Verizon, it's either the Actiontecs or the Westells.
