Well maybe it would be, since you're getting a a Z68 board you could use the SSD for SSD caching to give a performance boost.Little BaBy JESUS wrote:
Build for a mate. Look good?
i5 2500K
Coolermaster CM 960 II
Sapphire 2GB HD6950
Samsung 1TB F3
ASUS P8Z68-V
8GB G. Skill Ripjaws 1600Mhz
Corsair HX-650
Samsung DVD Drive
I have $150 left over in his budget. Was considering an SSD but I would only be able to go for a ~60GB one which didn't seem worth it.

Next they will have 1 ram slot on each of the 4 sidesFFLink wrote:
How much more awkward are they going to make it to fit coolers on MoBos?

LGA2011 is quad channel, the memory slots on each side limit the distance from the processors memory controller to the ram.FloppY_ wrote:

Seriously though, RAM should be fitted last unless you have an abnormally large cooler that covers them... Though I'd hate to replace RAM on that motherboard once installed...
EDIT: Another thing entirely... I though Tri-Channel was the norm these days? Don't you need 3slot combo's to run Tri-Channel?
