Sennheiser 555s are amazing. My pair are so comfortable, I can wear them for over 8 hours before they get sore, and even then it's barely noticeable. I modded mine, and you can notice a distinct difference. The audio sounds a lot .. fuller. It's hard to explain. You can feel the drivers moving a lot more, especially on loud bassy songs. I got mine for just under £90, so $130 is a damn good deal. Worth every pound tbh.Flaming_Maniac wrote:

Inside the can (I think that's the right term) there's a small sticky back piece of foam that blocks about 35% of the air intake holes. By removing this, air can be taken in much more easily. As for the technical side of what it does, I'm not sure, but it's definitely noticeable and sounds a lot better.Morpheus wrote:
So... it gives a slight frequency boost at 2k? at 200? That's what I'm asking, what exactly does it do.
I'd rather get the HD 380's (or even 280) than void a warranty, tbh...

More importantly, what are the chances of actually damaging the headset trying to do the soundstage mod? I mean if it really is little to no difference/placebo effect I don't really care so long as it is only time wasted, not a significant risk to breaking the headset.
even that's no problem. The foam thing that goes around your ear comes off easily, since it's build to be removable. The rest uses screws.Sydney wrote:

The only real risk is when you are taking them apart, since you have to pry it open, not just screws.
