Its not possible because DICE doesn't own some of the vital middleware which makes the game run, and thus cannot give it to the community: http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/m … aa/c307qwlPure_Beef_68 wrote:
I really want to see what the modding community can do with BF3, as in the past there has been some great ones come out - PR and Desert Combat to name a few.
I remember reading somewhere that Dice/EA are keeping the necessary codes (whatever the fuck they're called) from the modders to allow them to do this.
This needs to be changed.
Personally, i'd love to see a BF2 mod for BF3. No health regen, make jets + helis as powerful as they once were etc.
A PR mod would also be a great addition, although I can't see that community switching from the BF2 version any time soon.
What are your thoughts on this?

Yeah the chatbox doesn't scale with screen resolution, it stays constant.

Here's the quick jist of it: You have to hijack the http connection, modify a JS file so that when it uploads it pushes your image code instead of what the canvas element renders.

More destruction, when you say destruction 3.0 I expect to see an improvement over BC2
Destruction is more refined in BF3, it also requires more damage to be done before it becomes catastrophic. In BC2 it was retardedly easy to destroy buildings and the displayed damage was always pre-defined.
Finished the SP, definitely worth doing. Some fantastic detail in there, like the James Bond villain's dream home. It was also nice not having the Russians as the main baddie for once. There were also a couple of RL event references and a dig or two at COD.
Probably took around 5 hours on Normal, which isn't bad for a game where SP is just an added extra.

You get what you pay for, if you buy a low end computer then you can play BF3 on low settings, but the core gameplay remains the same.
I know consoles are outdated and a new generation is a must, but really, my 360 has never caused me any trouble. Back when I played BF2 on PC, it took ages to download patches, find low ping servers, get the game to actually run, diagnose computer problems, etc. With the console, just power on, put the disc in, and play.
edit: Off topic question, but the "Back to Karkand" expansion thing you get when you pre-order the limited edition, can I just pick up a limited edition copy on Tuesday and still get the expansion pack? Or is it required that we have to preorder to get it?
Its about perception, PC gamers expect more for their money.

You seem to have forgotten that when BF2 was released, a huge number of hardcore 1942 players boycotted it because it was "too different". Exactly the same thing is repeating now.DrunkFace wrote:
BF2 was a worthy sequel to BF1942. It was not a clone, it was not a remake it lost some and had many added features from it's predecessor, it was unique but kept the battlefield feel to the core of it's gameplay. BF3 does none of that. It doesn't have to be a remake or copy, but it does have to follow battlefield characteristics.aerodynamic wrote:

It would have been almost impossible to find some people in BF2 if it wasn't for commander spotting.
BF3 environment is too cluttered, too much going on, its too detailed to the point i don't know where people are. Couple this with the new 1/2 shots to kill i don't see how anyone can find this enjoyable.
There was an IGN video I linked earlier from one of the other maps, they have made it so that it takes longer to kill people now.
So its really just a complaint that there isn't a graphics setting which makes it look like thisjord wrote:

my only complaint about the helis is that just like in BC2, it only takes one burst of AA to literally knock them out of the sky, even if it only does 1% damage.
its a dumb idea because it means even the most incompetent AA gunner can completely shut down the sky for helis

What makes you so sure it'll be in the PC version? The Q key already spots people, and does nothing else at all. Commo rose would require even more PC-specific programming, god forbid
This also makes me think even more that the beta was just a really basic shitty direct console port they gave PC players just so we could have a beta, although it's obviously still got DX10 support(I'm assuming it's DirectX 10 and not just a quick DX9 port from the consoles) which also goes against that.
They had a new (far less buggy) version of the beta ready to go, but for some undisclosed reason Microsoft rejected it for the 360, so to keep the bug finding on the same terms they had to revert to the 6 week old Gamescon build which was already approved. We got Metro as the main map because they had to compare the Beta server performance figures to stats which they had already got from the Alpha, which used Metro.
That is why it seems shitty on PC.
the map overview was the same picture as the minimap in BF2
