But what is the question?? :p
Gotta love that book/move.

...Funny how we've decided to work out the meaning of a life a forum about an online, first-person-shooter game forum. Geez, could've at least chosen something like the White House, or the UN Building.

For me, in all seriousness, the point in life is livin. I say the word Livin because when you feel good thats what you say. Spend time with friends, loved ones, try not to fuck up too frequently, learn things, make things, etc. Just enjoy the world because you can.

The meaning of life is to experience all there is to experience... To do that, one life is not enough... hence, reincarnation...

That's it in a nutshell. You can say I'm wrong, but you know I'm right once you die. So when that time comes, just remeber "ResDog told me so".

See you on the other side ;-)

My family is my meaning of life..

"A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove, but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child...."

That is how you live on after death.

win.

but in all seriousness, there is no set meaning of life.

think about it this way, you live for what you want to live for.

thats my interpretation.

What if the meaning of life is to find the meaning of life? Its a Catch 22 (not quoted its just that sort of a catch)

Hopefully your child will then follow te correct paths and not become someone of great evil and will be able to carry on your family name in the good way. Children are like plants you plant a seed and take care of it and it will become a flower. Dont take care of it and it will probably never really grow up and end up waiting for that one day to be watered with knowledge hopefully so it can develop good.

Then there is a quote a crystal or diamond (bad memory its early morning here) is a lump of coal turned good under pressure.

True but most people who "do not take care of their plants'" do not post stuff like their children is their meaning of life. I could sit here and brag about my daughter like any proud father should, but just trust me when I say she is on the right path . Providing love, knowledge, attention, and discipline to your little ones is the reason I think most people who have children should be living for.

Life has no point or higher meaning. You are born. You live. You die. You decompose. People forget you ever existed. That's life. We're just a recycling of organic scum on the surface of a rock in the middle of space the length of whose existence is unimaginably negligible, like the bat of an eyelid, in terms of the eternity of time the universe has existed.

Well this is a hard issue. I don't think 42 is the answer.
The meaning of life is to question the meaning of life, its to learn all you can before you die. It's to exist.
If there was no life then there would be nothing. But i think a better question, is HOW is life. Think of it as a huge scale, there had to be a reason that something created the universe, or maybe multiverses beyond the universe.

Such a vast possibility of answers. No one will ever know. Maybe if this so called 'God' is real, maybe he created life so he would have someone to worship his 'greatness'. maybe another form of intellegence created us and are studying the evolution, theres so many possibilities i hope someday we know, but im afraid we probobly wont.

Ok folks, since this topic is almost totally void of hope and lacking in temporal understanding, I'll break it down for you, "god warrior" style!!  (would you expect anything less?)

Long ago, in a galaxy far, far away..there was God.  God had hundreds of billions of children and they had learned all they could throughout the eternities they lived.  God wanted them to have more so he created a world to go down to, to take up and learn how to use a physical body.  He gave us free agency to choose for ourselves happiness or misery.  While down here, we would not remember all that we learned before because it would not be an accurate or true test.  We were given many hints and clues like living prophets, writings of dead prophets, revelation, the Holy Ghost, etc.  But along with us is 1/3rd of his children who rebelled against the initial idea of coming to this earth to freely choose our path...this 1/3rd of the host of heaven are on this earth trying to pull us towards misery and ultimately away from our Heavenly Father.

The purpose of this life is to gain a physical body, be tried and tested, find "the way" back to his presense where we can continue in our eternal growth.  Building families here and in the here-after is our goal as well as that is where the joy is.

..well, that's not ALL there is to this life... capping bases and raping uncaps is also part of it.
