The results of the newest ICM/Scotsman poll are as follows:

How would you vote in an independence referendum? (%)

Yes 51%
No 39%
Don't Know 10%

51% of voters in Scotland told the Scotsman they favoured independence, the first time a majority had been in favour since 1998.

The campaign for a referendum on Scottish independence

What do you think, should Scotland be an independent country?

I at one point in time vowed never to set foot again in Scotland until it was a Republic (I broke my promise though for a couple of Glasgow Celtic matches)...

I'd love to see Scotland regaining some of it's all but depleted dignity by becoming independent. It would also make the 'Northern Ireland in the UK' issue all the more tenuous given the linkages between Scotland and the settler communities in the six counties -> if Scotland aren't in the UK then why should Northern Ireland? etc., etc.

Well, I didn't mention North Ireland because there's no question Ireland should be only one.

If they want to be independent, let 'em. Don't want the Scots dragging our economy down....

Only reason it isn't is because many of the people who live there don't want it to be. I wish they'd just make their bloody minds up.

Incidentally, I'm not entirely sure on this but I heard Northern Ireland is the only place they serve Coke in KFC. Can anyone from NI confirm this?

Dunno, last time I ate something out of KFC , the piece of chicken had some strange seeping pustule in it making me boke instantly all over the place and never set foot in the place ever again..

I'll have to agree that, if the majority of people in Scotland want freedom, give it to them.  The same should apply to Northern Ireland or Wales, if it is relevant.
