AMD didn't make it through the 21st century in one piece...
Well as long as everyone realizes that by saying "well its not that bad" just means that the next game will have twice as much and collect more information because you put up with it the first time. To top it off why the hell are we being subjected to advertising without it offsetting the cost of the game? Last I checked, I paid almost $50.00 bucks for the game... Do I get it for half price because I have to be subjected to mindless almost subliminal advertising while I game to escape the real world? It's all and well now, but it'll only get worse from here. Next damn game will just steal my wallet and reboot my damn machine endlessly, and since it'll be an EA/DICE product itll only steal my wallet sometimes, and ill get 1 reboot out of 4 tries. Seriously though, we shouldnt put up with in game adds unless it offsets the price of the game. Afterall I am sure EA doesnt plan to hire more talented coders with the extra income from ads. If they are going to ad pack this shit then I better be able to play the shit for free on Yahoo Games bitches!

What you're forgetting is that other multiplayer games that include progression, stats tracking etc. have the one-off purchase fee and then monthly subscriptions. If you don't want the advertising, perhaps you'd be willing to pay a $12.99 monthly sub instead?propyl wrote:

The thing is I don't know why we should have to pay for this game when EA will be raking in millions from advertising revenue. I would not have a problem with the ADS if they were EA products, other games for example.
An example - ITV, Channel 4 & 5 in the UK its completely funded by advertising so we don't have to pay for the use of TV to watch those channels, however BBC channels are paid for with the TV license because there are NO adverts.
I think its safe to say EA have had there cake and eaten it.

I think they should do a 2142-style ads. Not just simply copy a real-world posters into game.
Actually, I have no problem with the ads... my problem is the fact that to play I have to move my computer into the DMZ for my router so that the EA Master Server can ping me for my IP and info so they make the ads specific to me and my location.Chief_(OwNaGe) wrote:

Let me point you to a game called Battlefield 2. Let me point you to a thing called Prices for BF2 Ranked Servers. Let me point you to a thing called EA gets a royalty from Ranked Server fees. I think that even though the ads aren't THAT intrusive this time, it doesn't mean it will stay like that. Before you know it, there will be a constant scrolling ticker at the bottom of the screen (IN GAME) that will be stuffed full of ViAgrA ads and some online pharmacy links. It's more the principal than anything. And if they are going to be ballsy enough to monitor your online activity and put ads in your game, then they should get their shit together and figure out what they are gonna do with the stats feed BEFORE releasing the game.aardfrith wrote:
