I am red/green colour blind…… I have no problem in bf2 or Special Forces, but I am having real problems with 2142.
I find it really hard to distinguish between the flags on the mini map and often goto bases that we have already capped or goto what I think is a friendly base and get shot! lol
Are any of you colour blind and if so how are you finding distinguishing between the flags?
Also is there any way to edit the flags on the mini map to say red/blue or red/ yellow or something?

Nope, I ain't colour blind, I feel sorry for you.

It must suck not being able to see the flags properly.

I can think of two solutions:

1. Look into Localization files.

2. Email EA Support.

there is actually a color blind setting, or I should say, there was in the demo anyway - i'm just not 100% sure where it was, in video options maybe? have a hoke around

Just look at the symbols? Btw, i may be colour blind but i certainly can differentiate the PAC and the Euro flags. The EU has a darker red on top.

Just compare the designs on the flags when you're up close to them.

Yeah, thats how i have been telling the difference, but in the heat of battle i just want to hop around to the flags quickly and i have to stop and look really hard at them.

Thx for the replies, i really would like to be able to change the flags for quick reference though.....

If not, i guess i will get used to it

And for those of you who want to know what its like being colour blind check this link, it simulates it for you.

Through most of my life (and anyone anyone else who is colour blind will be able to relate to this) the first things that people say when they find out your colour blind is "what colour is that?" or "what happens at traffic lights, how do you know when to stop?"

The location of the lit light, I suppose.

I'm color blind too, and I am having the exact same problem with 2142.

The green traffic signal actually looks white to me.  As white as a sheet of paper.  So, I just hit the gas pedal on white.

In bf2, on maps like daqing, when I'm flying jets I'm always ramming the PLA choppers because I don't even notice them until it's too late.  They blend in too well with the ground color.

Wow, I guess it kinda sucks to be color blind, I mean that's because I'm not, but if you are, I guess you get used to it so you may not feel as bad. It really makes me treasure my eyes more. When I went to MEPS(Military Entrance Processing Station), they gave me that same color test mentioned in the site linked in one of the posts above. I didn't know color blindness can make such a difference in the things you see.

Well, yea it sucks to be color blind, but I'm pretty smart and I've got a nice-sized trouser snake, so I still think I was a winner in the genetics lottery.

I'm green blue color blind, but i still can't tell the difference... The two flags are way too simmilar in my opinion, as they are the only two armies, they need a red and blue one, or something more contrasting.

5% of males are colourblind, so a lot of you here are.

I'm very slightly colourblind (no problem with traffic lights at all). But the flags are really annoyyying. I keep capturing my own flags unless I stop to look closely.

I'm workign on a way to change the colours.

Would Punkbuster have a problem with changing the flag colors?

What I never understood is, how do you get to KNOW that you're color blind? I mean, you can't describe/explain certain colors to anyone : /

I think I found out at an eye test at school( when i was about 6 or 7), also I used to get all my colours wrong when painting and colouring in at school.

I don't really think of it as a disability, what i mean is that i have never known any different so i don't really know what i am missing out on anyway.

YOU'RE MISSING OUT ON SO MUCH.

I'm just messin' with you bro, sorry if it was offensive.

Red is a bad colour anyways, but green...that's were you're missing out.

Same problem here. It´s not that bad, but as somebody allready said earlier, it´s pretty hard in the heat of the battle to tell those two flags apart. Symbols would have been much nicer...

Agree i was tested for my Army Entrance exam and i didnt do very well at all which heavily reduced the amount of jobs i could have gone in for

Symbols whould have been a lot easier imho but then again it is EA/DICE we are talking about
