Okay, this makes no sense. If you are standing over someone who is prone you can't reach them with your knife, but you can reach them with your shock paddles...WTF

just a guess but electricity can arc...
in EA's world, electrical current can travel 5-10 feet if need be. However, the soldier forgot to sharp his nice, so he needs to be literally inside the opponent to kill him. Seems logical.
Don't you know, all soldiers wear aluminum foil under their uniform.

Don't forget that sometimes shock paddles dont work when you sneak up on a support gunner or any other type of infantry..then you go "Dang, why didn't I just knife him?" after they turn around and totally make you look like a noob.
