Although I think including a new map in a patch which can't be accessed by 100% of the community is a little unfair and would almost definitely have people up in arms about EA/DiCE screwing people over, I would love to see such a well known map as Karkand ported over as a night map.
That would simply rule.
I have disagree about the community getting screwed by EA/DICE. What I'd love to see is a $10 booster pack for SF like they did for vanilla BF2. 3 or 4 maps. Say 1 map of Seals vs Spetznas, 1 of SAS vs MECSF, and either Rebel vs Spetznas or Seals vs Insurgents.
I have to agree that EA/DICE has not been as good to those who like SF more than vanilla.
I like both EF and AF so I'd be willing to pay $10 for 3 good quality SF maps. I'd prefer they all be day maps but even if they weren't I'd play them. I'm so sick of Warlord and Ghost Town that I don't play much SF except for Iron Gator and I'm starting to get tired of it.
I didn't say that EA/DiCE had screwed over the community, just that I thought there would be a lot of people who would immediately start waving there hands about shouting "zomg EA and DiCE are n00bz, why don't we get a new mapzor!!!!11111onezor".
I would agree that EA have not released anything new for SF but you have to remember that SF is in itself an expansion, not a game in it own rights. I would imagine that they would view releasing an expansion pack for an expansion pack as a waste of their resources as it would not be available to all of their customer base.
Now since they have been pushing the deluxe edition of BF2 which includes SF then maybe the number of SF owners has reached a point where it would be financially viable to put more resources into developing SF material.
I love SF and really need to spend more time on it. I've not been fond of night maps but I thinkn that is a result of my unfamiliarity with the map whereas were such a popular map as Karkand or Sharqi ported over but at night the large majority of people playing the map would be more or less familiar with the layout, but the style of play would change dramatically. More accessible roofs, places to hide and C4 armour, stalking the alleyways and tight areas with nightvision, these are all things which I think a huge proportion of the community would enjoy.
It's just my humble opinion, but I reckon a map of this style could be seriously intense and fun to play.
