Release Dates

Just noticed that release dates of 2142 for the US is 17th October and 20th October for the UK.

Couple of queries I have

1/ Are these dates correct?
2/ If so then why is the US getting the game 3 days before the UK (and possibly the whole of Europe)?
3/ Does anybody know of any retailers in the UK that have an earlier release date?

Please no flaming, especially on the second query, it is a simple question, I don't want the usual were better than you crap.

1. Who knows with them but Probably yes.

2.They like us more? Who knows

3.They do get the game in a 1-2 days before they just dont put it on the selfs until the relese date.

German release date is supposed to be October 19th, so yeah, looks like the US will get it first.
Are these dates correct? In the end, only Dice and EA will be able to tell, but they're the ones that were made public so far. Why is it released in the US first? Perhaps because EA is a US company and a vast majority of BF2 players are from there so they expect to receive the most support for 2142 in the US? Regarding your 3rd question... I doubt there are any. If so, other retailers will follow for sure. Release dates are usually nationwide, be it movies, CDs, games.

Well, you could do what I've done a few times: go to a local electronics store, preferably on the day before the game is supposed to come out, sometime around 1-maybe or a max. or 3 hours before closing time. The workers will probably already have the game out on the shelves, and if you go ask them politely if you could please have the game, and include some reason (like you want to be sure you get a copy, it's for a B-day, or just ask a plain " may I have it" question..."), then they will probably give it to you, as long as you ask a nice one. Hey, I've bought games that have a big sticker on 'em saying "DO NOT SELL UNTIL [date]" on them a day (two once!) before it's suppoesed to be sold .

a ex co-worker of mine once sold a game a day before its release. Then the game ended up getting delayed a week. The game publisher found out about the sale somehow, fined the store $10,000 and the guy got fired.
