Yeah, and isn't 2142 demo, beta, whatever, supposed to come out in like 2 months?

why would they delay it purposely? nothing to make off of it in fact they never had to offer any patches whatsoever. they're helping the consumer by offering these free patches.  Even the biggest software companies in the world need to patch their products so it isn't an indication of any problem with EA.

Still, I don't think they're delaying it on purpose but also, they might not be too worried about it. People have mentioned the "Hype" before. I know several players who actually don't want to buy 2142 because of the 1.3 patch of BF2. I for myself don't even like the genre of 2142 so I would never spend a single cent on it. Probably, the majority of 2142-customers are familiar with games like Halo or UT, which I'm definitely not.
EA must therefore also be aware of the fact that a good 1.4 patch which they don't earn anything on (or do they? I mean, people still buy BF2...) won't change anything to me except that I'd rather enjoy their game again (and, honestly, doesn't BF2 kick ass anyway?).

Again, what I wanted to say: The patch is not of greatest priority for EA, they are a company and therefore looking for cash to earn. With 2142. And if not with 2142, with something else, similar to BF2 in the game-play and the style but obviously with a new engine.


Post Scriptum: Maybe EA were hired by some US-officials, not to improve their game Battlefield 2 any further, since the USMC doesn't always win? Who knows...

No!  The way I think they probably see it is:
If we bring it out and it has a big problem people will whine non stop till the next patch which could be months away.
If we see the problem and delay it enough to attempt to fix it or make it a smaller problem people will whine for a shorter time and may be quiet briefly while they use the patch until they discover a problem and start whining about wanting the next patch.

So no it's not to make you angry its to try to stop you whining at them long enough to get rid of their headache

Hmmm... besides all those delay conspiracies... Am I the only one, who thinks that it´s kinda strange, why they never told what us what is really wrong with 1.4 and why they could not release it ? (or did I miss something ?).
Reviewing the other patch comments, they were never to shy to admit their mistakes before...

Well, yes and no.
On the one Hand, i really must say that it is quite strange, and that I'd even have accepted another buggy patch as long as the server browser, etc. worked properly and the game didn't crash. They, however, rather delayed the patch, indicating that this patch now should be final.
On the other Hand, I can say I really understand them - I mean, I can't imagine that creating a working patch is that easy going, you know. The full patch has around 500 MB, putting this into relation with the game in it's original state, that's quite a lot! Maybe they really noticed some major instabilities whose origins they didn't know, so maybe that's why they were that inaccurate in their announcement. Admitting trouble, yes - admitting not knowing what causes the trouble, not-so-easy-to-admit - must be like this...

Funny, after voting I saw the results, and I could not believe it.

I don't think the purpose of delaying the patches is to make the player community angry, actually I think the delays are aimed to the opposite. In fact, 1.3 should have been delayed more, and we would not be angry.

EA should have put their efforts on stability rather than on "features". I am pretty sure the advent of 1.3 caused the sales of BF2 to drop substantially.

I hope 1.4 will restore things to is proper state, but that is a long shot.

they delay too little cos the patches suck. if it would take more time, it would be a better fix!

I think EA delays the patch on purpose cause they want it to be perfect.
If this patch is perfect, customers will think EA can do some good job and they will buy bf2142.
It's like a free commercial for EA ....
