Yesss.  I went out today and got the new Log cd.  It is extremely good if you were to ask me; "Walk With Me In Hell", "Redneck", and "Descending" are some of the extremely good songs, and the rest are incredible as well.

My car died after i bought it because i was listening to it over and over again with the car off, but the battery still running.

Don't do that when you're stuck in Northeast Philly at 8 P.M.

Not a good idea.

So who else got it?

LoG aren't my favourite band, but they're ok... I don't usually listen to metalcore much if at all.

That's a long quote.

Exactly what they say they are, Pure American Metal.

That's what they are.

I didn't know Metal wasn't a genre.

Pure & American are adjectives.

Metal as a genre is too vague. Metal could be used against Kamelot, but metal also covers Morbid Angel, two VERY different bands. So, I'll rephrase for you: What sub-genre would you put them under then?

Ok then.

I guess if you must put them into a sub-genre I'd go with Heavy Metal.

Where are you getting your Genre info from?  Itunes?

Please no.

I don't like getting into "genre debates" because everyone has their own opinions of how music sounds to them.
I group every band i listen to as metal.

You win, Have your own opinion, i really could care less, but have you listened to it/bought it?

No, I'm getting my genre info from years of listening to metal and reading about it, because it interests me.  Genres are also classified by the music, not the fan's or the band's opinion. Otherwise my opinion could be Britney Spears just pushed out a new black metal record, but I'm sure you'll agree with me that it's completely dumb to think that. Her music defines her as pop, not the fan's opinion and the same applies to all music.

Also I haven't listened to their new album, but I own Ashes of the Wake.

OMG, thank god someone ended that little debate and gave in!! I listen to METAL and I would classify Lamb Of God as such, but I try not to bother myself with all these stupid classifications because it is all personal opinion, in my opinion. Metalcore, thrash metal, nu-metal, death metal, black metal... blah blah blah. Obviously they have one thing in common and that's good enough for me.

And yes, I did buy Sacrament today, and yes, I do like it. Not as much as Ashes, but it might have to grow on me a bit. It actually sounds a little Pantera-ish to me, at least redneck does, not that it is a bad thing.

Ok well, maybe you've classified them as "Metalcore" based off of one album.  Maybe if you've listened to their others "New American Gospel", "As The palaces Burn", and now "Sacrament" maybe your opinion would change.

It's a good cd.  So now that you've got me talking about what i love most, music.  Have you listened to the new Slayer cd?  If you listen to them?

I have the new Slayer CD, but I only like one song from it. Raining Blood Slayer >>>>>>> new Slayer.

Maybe it's just my skewed thinking, but somebody actaully sits down and puts labels on this music, not the music itself. Whether it's a writer, or a band, or a fan, a store,... someone does it. So what makes them or you or me qualified to put a label on a CD? I try not to waste my time with the sub-genres peeps put on music. If it's pop, country, rap, opera, I don't like it. If metal is in the title, there is a good chance I'd at least give it an ear. (No offense to anyone who likes the afformentioned genres of music). And that's fine by me if you are intereseted in the sub-genres, I just thought I'd voice my opinion.

True that! But I do think this Christ Illusion is a bit better than some of the more recent Slayer albums. (Diabolus, God hates us all)

I'll use black metal as an example, also remember I'm speaking generally. (Keyword is generally)

Fans of Immortal and Ondskapt may go looking for new bands, and it's widely known that fans of the "true" () Norwegian black metal bands hate bands like Dimmu Borgir. Which is where sub-genres come in. Dimmu Borgir and Immortal have completely different sounds, yet could both be called black metal. So, a sub-genre (or sub-sug-genre if you must...) is created, symphonic black metal. Because of Dimmu Borgir's symphonic elements mixed with their style of black metal, fans of Immortal wouldn't find their music good to listen to. So instead fans of Immortal know to avoid symphonic black metal, but instead look for new black metal bands, WITHOUT the symphonic elements. (Hope this made sense/got my point across)

Also I agree, Christ Illusion > GHUA as a whole.
