Where are snipers, if you're not nyte? Generally high places, including hills. No place to hide on hills.EntertaineR_06 wrote:
Yes, snipers are cannon fodder against a tank, aren't medics and assault too? I agree that assault and medics are more desireable to a good team than snipers in the majority of situations, it depends on map and how the other team is playing. If the other team are all sniping at a base stopping you from getting it what are you supposed to do apart from whore up a vehicle? A sniper in every squad helps tremendously, squad leader spots someone, sniper takes him out and always has there back and can easily swap kits and revive someone if needs be.
Especially on kark, medics and assaults are safer from tanks because they are down in the alleyways. Only the alleycampers get them.
A sniper in squads does help, but not for killing power. Not for assault power, not for any replenishing bags in the kit. They are liked for the 10x scope and no other reason. You know how to solve that? Binoculars. And that my friend is the modern army.
I'm not going to argue the point furture, you're firm in your belief that snipers are not as bad as the general community think. But this is a game and games are supposed to be fun and I can argue that sniping is fun however I do not like the general attitude along all the guides and all the videos that snipers own. It's a fun kit, a game like BF2 could not be made without such a kit, but the argument has been fought, proven and concluded many times in many ways and it has to stop.
I've said my piece, good day.

I feel the saem way that it is a game but I still think the community's conception of the kit is completely wrong and their hate is based upon game like CS:S etc, I think we'll have to agree to disagree. Yes, on the modern battlefield apart from for reconaissance and stealth movement snipers don't have much use with all the new weaponry about. But in this game, I believe they do.Defiance wrote:

The guides are starting to pee me off now as I have stated earlier and I think there are less video's coming out now, aswell as having our own community to talk about most of this stuff, I think it helps alot with the spam on Jeff's site If you wanna carry on this "heated discussion" add me on xfire defiance.
@Defiance: You're welcome.

I rarely snipe on roofs, too easy a target for other snipers. Explains why i've killed you so many times.ssonrats wrote:
I always snipe on roofs, if you are sneaky enough you can use the cover on the roof to great advantages, i have managed to achieve a decent enough k/d ratio this way so shut it!
I will snipe from roofs on Wake tho, the huts provide pretty decent sniping points for long range and often close range. What I find surprising is the number of times i've killed people from a roof close range on wake and they never notice me, even if I do it to them repeatedly. I guess for wake they all expect the snipers to be on the ground.

Wow, talk about a thread being hijacked by ego-padders... leave the suggestions drop the useless and frankly irritating competition.
best guide yet, nice one
Best guide my ass.

I did a search for you this time, but please do it every time you have an urge of writing yet another pointless essay on "how to be a sniper cause nobody knows that obviously".
I have nothing against snipers and sniping, in fact, I often snipe myself, but sniper guides just piss me off.
SGS = Sniper Guides SUCK.

Wasder, please read the post before venting... Whats this community come to that a gesture designed to help a few newer players and perhaps give a couple thoughts to some veterans is the target of such frustration. Also, none of the guides prior mentioned had the console command attached. So there is "some" novelty, that said, props tot he other authors. Once I remembered this community being semi-respectful, now it seems that the majority that respond to threads are blood-crazed anti-social possums.

it has to be the queerest phrase i've heard today.
I'd explain it to you spawn, but not when you express homophobic bigotry through your choice in language.
DebonairXcel, I don't have time to go through this in detail ATM but this has some good general pointers to sniping which I'm sure some people will find useful. But as EntertaineR_06 has already covered some of the stated positions are based on one particular style/philosophy of play, which is not the only way of using the kit. And for some maps it's the wrong way of using the kit, if you want to score well and help the team win (with the emphasis on either one).
You could do with running this through a word processor to weed out the spelling errors, even in American it's not spelled Manuevering. The grammar could do with some work in a few spots too. And geez dude, get the weapon names right; it's not the L95 it's the L96A1.
As for the waste of space opinion, well it's just that, your opinion (just a shame you didn't express it as one). Bad snipers are a waste of space, just like a bad medic, assault, support, engineer or spec ops are... the guys down at the bottom of the scoreboard at the end of a 64-player game with almost no points and negative KDRs. Every game has 'em and it has nothing to do with the kit they play.
Anyway, for those people all I have is this: http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h187/ … lo/Meh.jpg See position #10 on my team. And I did it without constantly moving around like an epileptic who's forgotten to take his meds!
Now imagine what a good sniper could do.

Quite so. The shots are almost always cherrypicked to be the cream of the crop in one way or another.DebonairXcel wrote:

There's a lot more to sniping effectively than that young padawan, particularly if you don't want to play as a standoff sniper.Nicholas Langdon wrote:

Given your antipathy toward snipers it's not a surprise but you really haven't paid much attention on the forum recently have you?Defiance wrote:

Karkand is just one map. One with bad visibility, so it naturally doesn't favour sniping (at least not the traditional way). But go play Sharqi more, totally different story; and I guarantee that if the visibility on Karkand were the same (or better, like on FuShe) it would have a completely different dynamic.Defiance wrote:

You're going to get a nasty wakeup call very soon. Not a threat, just a prediction. In fact all of you people who knock snipers, their effectiveness, their usefulness to the team blah blah blah blah blah blah are all going to eat those words shortly.Defiance wrote:

It's not a matter of belief; it's a fact. A decent player using the sniper kit can do extremely well in a mixed-combat environment. Sure there are a bunch of people who aren't great who snipe because they're not great (it's why I started sniping more, since I'm terrible up close) but time and again the same old drivel is posted.EntertaineR_06 wrote:

Alpha as fuck.
I think Deb just made this to watch all of the snipers come in here and yell at him and then all the other players to yell at the snipers and then a flame war erupts over the proper decimal of deviation and then a "unlocks vs stock" debate will show up, possibly an "enemy boat spotted". A random useless post saying "AK101 ftw" or "L96A1 ftw".
This topic might as well have been started by Nyte talking about how good he is.

The only person I keep count with is dont_be_ss, with the score currently being 5-5. Are those kills with the sniper rifle only or just anything?
I think I remember you killing me a couple of times with the rifle when I was usmc on arty island (on Wake Island). But then, that's like fish in a barrel.
