It looks like a combination of Ghost town + Mashtuur
It reminds me of Basrah Nights and Basrahs Edge.
agree. there are some similarities to sharqi too.ImposedThreat wrote:

@fierce: thx, good shots. I've been waiting for that. would like to give you +1, but I'm new and have to spam a bit first...

If you're going to show us a picture of the ingame map, make sure we can't see our gun through it eh?
I still dont understand why a new map with patch, why not fix all the issues first and then give a new map, and at least put some effort in making a new map. subways tunnels, skyscrappers, ect
and MashtuurInviSniper wrote:

I guess they havent' quite finished it yet.

Theyre like disney and reusing animations, they use the same building from gulf of omen and thats the 3rd msp woth the tv station thats the same, abd then the building from ghost town, cant wait to see what else
Niceeeeeee!!!
It's a lot like Sharqi, Karkland, and Mashtuur all rolled into one... There are some other recognizable features from Great Wall, Daqing (spelling?) Oil Fields, and even Oman. It's clearer than Karkland, no yellow mist, and has some areas that are smokey from planes / APCs that are burning. There is no air power on these maps that I saw, and very little armor - a couple tanks per side.
I'll get flamed for this, but being in a tank will SUCK in this map - too many alleys with blind corners and tall buildings that create PERFECT kill zones. AT kit lovers will enjoy this map, as will snipers and Spec Ops. EA did a nice job laying out the flag zones. Most seem to be in difficult and open terrain - exposed to more than one field of fire.
I'm excited... I think if the EA haters can get by the fact that DICE chose to recycle some buildings and design themes, they might stop and realize that this is the best map yet. If not, then go back to C.A.V.E. (Citizens Against Virtually Everything) dwelling. Shit man, it's a free map! At least Cartillery seems to have gone by the wayside with the patch.
Here are a few screenies...

sweett
Just a note on the infantry only setting. I know there's a couple of ladders in Europe where 5v5 infantry only has become very popular. Not only is there no vehicles, there's no commander either which is very hard to spot in game unless you happen to see someone stood doing nothing.
so im guessing it installs like a patch?
how, exactly? can you elaborate please; as they said weren't actually removing it, how have they changed it to prevent cartillery?wanderlost wrote:

It seems to function in a similar fashion to supply drops. While you can still select an area to drop a vehicle, there is a small amount of wind-drift that is unpredictable such that the car will land in the general area of the target, but not exact.oberst_enzian wrote:

It's very much in the same manner as supply crates.
ahh i thought that would be the case, as it seemed to be the most logical way to deal with the problem. it will take great skill to play 'squish the sniper' again, and 'skill' means that 75% of bf2 players won't be able to do it. that's enough to stop the plague, so it's good enough for me.
Meh. No biggie.
Good stuff guys. Though I am jealous that I am at work and can only drool over your screenies. Thanks
"windows can not open the file" can anyone help or am i just dumb... 23242 hours of dling and this is what i get hurray for ea
why does it look like karkand meets mashtur? did they really run out of ideas for maps or just lazy bastards? both?
Before anymore of you open your big snotty nosed fucking mouths, read this guys post!!wanderlost wrote:

HE has his head on straight, if this map cost money you would fucking bitch and moan,
but its fucking FREE, the first FREE MAP!!!
If you HAVEN'T PLAYED IT STFU, its a wicked map, and i bet if sharqi was the most favourite map,
and they went to realise karkand like this, you would bitch about how its got mashtuurs buildings and all this shit!
Yes they re-use buildings, who wouldn't?? As a game designer i re-use them, it takes alot less time to put the map together, and i can guarentee you, the map will be the same as it is when its released.
Stop crying and just install the patch and play the game, or go back to CAVE and cry more!!!
bring on the karma.

Really cool!
As said before it looks like a mix of Mashtuur/Ghost Town/Sharqi/Karkand and I also sense a strong Warlord influence. In fact, it seems to me that they've rolled all the popular "infantry type" maps into one.
I'm really looking forward to play it.
But oh my god, there's a lot of good places to hide in wait to ambush people!
And of course the sniper community will certainly have a good time here.
