Well thats because you are either in the F35 or you need more practice. I spent about 2 months flying with mouse and keyboard in BF1942 and then I got a joystick. THere is no comparison, I love it and will not go back. Joystick is great for planes and choppers.

alot of people hate how jets don't spin with a mouse like a joystick. I just recently learned to use my key arrows to spin really fast it works too just do a few corkscrews and aa doesn't hit you ...much

joystick all the way. you just have to mess with the settings a bit to get the inputs right.

it was night and day going from a keyboard/mouse to my saitek x45. plus having a billion programmable buttons at your fingertips is nice to really customize your game play to your style.

The only benefit i see to using a joystick vs. keyboard and mouse is doing infinite barrel rolls.

I fly with mouse and keyboard and if I may say so myself, I can kick some butt in the air. I can keep up with/take down people with joysticks.

Joystick > keyboard/mouse

I played for 2 months with KP/M and 4 with a joystick. Believe me, a joystick is better.

I'll give you some advice on dodging later, time for a pizza now

I flew with keyboard & mouse before I got a joystick and joystick is definitely superior.

I flew with a keyboeard and mouse for alittle while and got owned...since i got my joystick I have improved greatly over what i was. If you are going for a joysitck you need to get a decent one though as cheap ones have the tendency to break down very quicky lol.

I think they are good in different ways, with a kb/m you can snipe people with the bullets and line up the bombs really really good.  However unlike the joystick dogfighting can turn out to be fighing with your mouse and room to move.  An all you gotta do with the joystick is twitch that sucker around...  Like always there are pros and cons with each one.

I have a question if you are Familiar with the X52 would you recommend it for both Plains & Choppers or would you get a diffrent joystick

Joystick > Keyboard Mouse

Where does only keyboard fit in?

The x52 is the godstick among men. I have convinced 3 of my clanmembers to purchase one because I believe in one... One of my guys was soo frustrated with flying and he went and got an x52 and next thing I know I see him in jets and shit all the time now its awesome actually.

What would you like to know about it... there is some difficulty in initially setting it up, once you do however get it all setup there is a big set up section on saiteks website dedicated to helping you get all of your settings dialed in. It's pretty much a must to use the programming software imo to fully utilize the joystick.

it should work just fine. my x45 is great for helicopters. just like everything else you just have to get used to it. if you're used to playing on a keyboard/mouse for the first few times you'll swear your joystick is a piece of crap. then you get used to how functional it is and having the ability to control your throttle in increments other than on/off along with varying degrees of rudder and having all the extra buttons at your fingertips make having a nicely setup joystick/throttle an unbeatable combo imho. you just gotta give it time.

A joystick is definetely superior to keyboard/mouse:

-Throttle control
-accurate turning (turn the joystick halfway = turn at 50% speed. How fast do you move the mouse?)
-No possibility of running out of room.
-improved overall handling.

Now, as for people saying that choppers are best flown with a kb/m.. right. I flew with kb/m for 2 months before getting a joystick and it took me a whole week to be back up to my old level of flying. Unlike jets, I got used to flying those with a joystick in a day. I presume many have experienced the same, but just thought 'bah, there's no way I can fly choppers with this thing, it's way too hard.' and then clog up forums with their anti-joystick propoganda.

In any case, I'll just carry on enjoying getting gold every time I play Kubra.

I think it's maybe just the settings that i'm struggling with cause every time i try to take of the chopper flips but with plains it's still pretty cool though [i use to have a logitec but it broke so now i'm flying choppers with keyboard getting pretty good i would say]

check your slider settings under "helicopter" in controls. there's scale factor sliders. i can't remember what its called and i'm at work right now. but they can help with the sensitivity.

I'm 2 weeks old on a joystick.  Some Thrustmaster with a seperate throttle that isn't made anymore apparently (found out after I bought it, lol), so there goes any sort of warranty.  I'm having trouble getting a hang of it.  I did much better with KB&M, but I just need to practice more with the joystick I guess.  Having trouble lining up targets due to the sensitivity.  I am not going back to KB&M no matter what; I am going to get my 50 bucks worth outta this joystick.  lol.

I switched from a mouse/keyboard to joystick and I found a huge difference. Especially in dogfights, avoiding AA is better when you can just pull this stick all the way instead of having to keep rolling the mouse. This gives you tighter turns and quicker response.
