I have a question...... Can I copy the xpack mod folder (in order to create a new mod) and put all the modded maps in there? Example: will any problems arise if I create a folder called "SP_level_mod" and attempt to activate it throught the community section of BF2?

Hmmmm, it will probably work. In fact....there is no reason why it wont.VeNg3nCe^ wrote:

All I can say...is owned.
is it just me or does the a-10 look kinda weird? I mean color and texture wise. or maybe it's just the screenshot
its the screen/graphics of that pc, look how the runway looksSpearhead wrote:

Yeah sorry, I have my settings on low, and that can make the game look realy wierd sometimes, however I will be boosting the textures to medium soon, hopfully its not too drastic a graphic change to make my game lag.
Damn girl, you gotta tell us how to do that! Everyone is dying to test out the A-10. Atleast give us a video.
Oh yeah, and thanks for solving my map problem, it works now. ITS SO FUNNY. Karkand looks so funny with Songhua Stalemates sky, and USMC versus USMC, with one side speaking German. Its hilarious.
Ok so I have messed around with SAK2008 so much. It currently has Mekongs sky(Mekong being a custom map, on the Mekong River, very damp and wet. bland sky) and its the EU (Germany) versus the USMC (themselves). What I wanted to do was replace all the US vehicles that the EU is using with EU vehicles. So I replaced the M1A2 with the L2A6, the Humvee with the new Humvee camo, the LAV-25 with the new LAV-25 camo, and the vehicle drop with the new DPV camo.
Only one thing.
They dont work.
I had made the SAK2008 mod before installing EF again (a while back I had reinstalls) so I made a new BF2 mod named SAK2008, same thing but with EF in its blood.
STILL DOESN'T WORK! What the hell is going on?

ef in its blood? You mean you put the EF Objects into the cusom mods folder? Makes sence, but you got to change the static objects file too. oh btw...

Awesome work,once again.
Is this a complete mod now with the added AF vehicles(do you need all the other files?) or is it still just a modded map?
This is definitely making me curious about AF and what the little bird is all about.
And seeing this screenshot I always have to think about the finale of Black Hawk Down.
For a mod map of it I'd take USMC(maybe mix it with Navy Seals, the helmets are like those of the deltas in the movie)vs. the freaky Derka-Derka-insurgents from SF(can you combine them with the black assault or AT guy so you actually get Somalia skinnies?).
Then add Blackhawks(they are not doing much anymore,so no harm done),Little Birds and those pickup trucks from SF,because they look like the scrapmetal on wheels they used in the movie. And it needs the RPG of SF in it.
And if someone manages to make this a night map it would just be perfect.
Damn,I want that birdy.Any chance to get the level emailed,Korean Princess?
Yeah, what I did was I went into EF levels static objects con files, and copied the strings from those EF vehicles into my new Static Objects con file, and renamed it all to EF vehicles, but when I go ingame they just revert to the old vehicles. L2A6 doesent show up, just an M1A2, M1A2 on US Side goes to the T-90.Citizen One wrote:

So I gave up on that. You know what I did then? I installed SF again (once again with the reinstalls a while back)
and switched the teams around. US turned into MECSF, and EU into the SEALS. And I put Zatar Wetlands sky on it.
Only one problem.
Now the map doesent even load.
EDIT: Oh and I think I mightve found the reason for the map not loading! I never replaced the Static Objects file with the old SAK one. Apparently mixing EF vehicles that dont work for some reason, with SF doesent work. Ill revert it and see if it works.
I wouldn't bother putting in Ice Cream skies into EF levels, I also get CTD'S when I try that.
Ice Cream Skys in EF levels? Well this isnt an EF level. Its Strike at Karkand, with SF people.
Also, the retry still didnt work. Went to verifying client data, then CTD.

Are you talking about the tank? Because that wont show up in Vannila regardless of the static text strings or not, I dont know why...I get the same problem with the Muscle Car.
Yeah the tank the APC the humvee and the DPV, all from Euro Forces dont show up, reverted back to US, and when I changed the MEC crap to US, it reverted back to normal too.
Its a complete new mod, and I cant send you the Little Bird because of that, but if you want to know what it feels like..well..its like a fast blackhawk with rapeage guns and a built in UAV. Its pretty cool.Mj.Blindfisch wrote:

Well,I guess I can wait the few more days until it comes out,our software store downtown is always up-to-date so I'll be flying this thing myself pretty soon...Citizen One wrote:

But a tutorial of getting this thing into Karkand would be nice, once AF is out,so I can try this out at home too.
I will make one when AF is released.

Sweet.
You forgot step .5 : Make a copy back up of your original BF2 or xpack folder. Most of the time when you make changes to the code you will get an error when you try to log in to a game it will load then it will chack your data then bam kick. This will save you time not having to reload your game.Citizen One wrote:
In the following tut, I will teach you how to make subtle changes to single player maps to suit your tastes, you will need BF2, XPACK and the latest patch for this to work.
In this tut, I will be using Karkand, although it works on any level, but not on SF levels, unless you make your own mod, which I will explain a later time.
1: create a folder called "Level abuse"
2: Copy and Paste the Strike At Karkand folder from BF2's level folder to the levels abuse folder, thats copy, don't cut. Now while in the levels abuse folder go into the karkand folder you pasted over and...
3: Open the Karkand "server.zip" and extract the contents to the current folder your in.
4: Open the "init.con" file with notepad.

5: Look for the string of text that reads...
You dont need to, your only making copies of already existing levels and putting them into your xpack level folder, I never get kicked by Punkbuster because I have a custom level in its folder. Only if you mess around with the core game files would you need to create backups.Neoburn_1035 wrote:

NEW UPDATE, YAY!
How to give vehicles built in UAV's.
!Warning! You need to make a new mod folder.
Do this by copying your xpack folder and pasting it into BF2's mod folder and naming it "ownage" or something, whatever you want as long as it doesent say "Copy Of Xpack".
Now to begin. In your new mod folder, open the "Objects_server" zip and go into the Objects folder then vehicles then this bit is up to you, but lets give the Apache a radar k? Now go into "xpak_vehicles" and select the "xpak_apache" folder, in there is a file called "xpak_apache.tweak" drag that out to the desktop or wherever you want to edit it, but leave that zip open, not because you have to, but opening all those folders again gets a bit boring. Now open the tweak file with notepad and in that tweak file locate a line that says...
Now under that paste in the following text string.
So it looks like this.
Now save that tweak file to the desktop and then drag it into the Apache vehicle folder and it will replace that tweak file with the one you edited. Now start up your custom mod and play Iron Gator or something, and fly the Apache, if done right it shoud have a built in UAV, if it wont work for you, let me know exactly what you did so I can point out what you did wrong. Ok have fun!
