Also we took in a dumpster cat. At least we assume she is - any time she has access to a bin she dives in head first and burrows to the bottom.
If we don't catch her fast enough all we can see is her feet.

Poland spring. I grew up with a water cooler in my house. I had one in my apartment for awhile but got rid of it when the water started tasting funny. Replaced it with a fridge or plastic bottles.
you're supposed to clean those things every few months at least. i'm not a huge fan of jugs of water sitting around on the counter for weeks at a time, anyway. seems like a good way for bacteria to build up.
isn't pretty much the only requirement for any brand of bottled water that they pass tapwater tests? unless you're living in flint or some other shithole, just get one of those charcoal filter jugs and refill it at your kitchen sink.

genuine question, but are all american clothes cut like that? the silhouette is distinctly american. to the point where i can tell if a foreigner here in asia is from the USA or not just by the way their clothes fit or hang off them. very boxy. almost a certain prudishness and puritanism about the human figure ... ditto the combination of 'formal wear with trainers'. even US politicians have been doing that for what feels like a decade now. is that what you're aspiring towards? the white-soled sneaker look?
no bueno, i gotta tell you. the only politician who can carry off trainers is castro in his retirement.
also, minor fashion infelicity here, but you've got loads of pockets on your new UN peacekeeper vest and you're still putting large items in your trousers? big no-no to have visible bricks in your trousers (😏). get a pair that are properly tailored to your leg length and, ahem, 'seat', and keep the pockets for small change.

it's very odd that the richest country on earth mostly rely on leisurewear and 'dress up' in brooks brothers stuff straight off the peg. then you've got someone in like catania or the czech republic making $13k or $23k a year and still going to their neighbourhood tailor or cobbler, who has probably owned their storefront since the time of the warsaw ghetto, regularly getting things fixed and tucked and mended. the result is they actually look like adults dressed in adult clothes, and americans look like adult children playing dress-up for the day.

we did talk awhile back about how workwear is everyday wear here. nobody here cares about the hem of your pants. the people running surviving small biz cobblers and tailors are either ancient, or immigrants working on stuff for other immigrants. even stuck up private schools do khakis and polo shirts like those van nazis awhile back.

what's ironic is wearing all these trainers with big soles and highly structured heels and gel inserts is fucking ruining your feet, posture, and overall biomechanics. in the name of comfort you walk around like a schlub and are setting up yourself for bad hips and back. but okay, continue with the Fetterman act.
i'm not intending to pile on him at all. he's trying to dress aspirationally for the job he wants/persona he wants to project. that's good and has been the point of fashion since we climbed down out of the trees. i'm not knocking his desire to improve his appearance. i just think it's a waste of time and money if you're not aware of some very basic fashion precepts. hell, learn the basic principles of how to dress - and in particular how to dress for your particular build and shape - and then fashion becomes basically easy. it's not something you have to fuss over or pay much mind to. it just seems as though most americans never get to this basic stage of how to dress themselves properly. it's as fundamental as learning to shave. fucking put on some trousers that fit you!!!^ I can't tell if uziq is being rude, condescending or trying to be genuinely helpful.

and i don't think highly of those r/menswear types at all, by the way. big false economy of kudos there. they try to achieve good style as if it's a reading list, or an engineering problem to solved. by trying so hard and investing so much libido into comparing outfits with other nerdlings on reddit, they're automatically excluding themselves from the sunlit uplands of true style. the italian term 'sprezzatura' comes to mind. you need to be effortless about it, not studiously effortful. it's not a GRE exam or a FAANG job interview.
i would sincerely hope macbeth could present himself better than a dweeby indian menswear forum guy. that shouldn't be hard at all. but, in the picture cited as example, the guy at least gets how to dress for his body shape (V-shaped with pencil legs). i personally wouldn't wear tapered or skinny trousers in this year of our lord 2026, and the hem is a little too high for my personal brand 'o' britches, but the guy understands that pairing an oversized, loose upper half with a contrasting lower half works well. he's already outpacing our young neophyte macbeth, who looks like a roblox character.
