'smug' says the guy who humblebrags about their charity participation and active politicking. keep at it of course but let's be real about it lol.
Could we not argue about who is smugger please?
I may buy a hybrid in which case I will win that.

caring for animals is much easier than caring for people. it's no surprise that most people who are super passionate about animal care and preservation are also very transparently compensating for or retreating from human interactions (or lack thereof). and it makes obvious sense, doesn't it? animal charity is a simple transaction in which animal gratitude is beamed back at you. pure, uncomplicated, without the taint of complex messy human relationships.

by contrast, even with the best will in the world, trying to deal with homeless people can piss you off. human beings often don't want to help themselves. they get caught in nets of freudian self-annihilation. the more effort you spend on them, the deeper they seem to get in their own holes. that's hard work. throwing a bunch of money at a dog shelter and feeling the dopamine glow as you survey all their stupid wagging tails is a fucking cakewalk in comparison.
My sister gives to animal charities, I give to people charities.
Also we took in a dumpster cat. At least we assume she is - any time she has access to a bin she dives in head first and burrows to the bottom.
If we don't catch her fast enough all we can see is her feet.

my first comment re: that was about water bottles. you kept going about datacenters. the mass hoarding and repurposing of consumer electronics and the erection of secretive windowless warehouse eyesores probably isn't a great shot in the arm blah blah blah and so forth. we can talk about bottled water again if you'd like.

what's your favorite brand of bpa-laced microplastics smoothie?

Poland spring. I grew up with a water cooler in my house. I had one in my apartment for awhile but got rid of it when the water started tasting funny. Replaced it with a fridge or plastic bottles.

you're supposed to clean those things every few months at least. i'm not a huge fan of jugs of water sitting around on the counter for weeks at a time, anyway. seems like a good way for bacteria to build up.

isn't pretty much the only requirement for any brand of bottled water that they pass tapwater tests? unless you're living in flint or some other shithole, just get one of those charcoal filter jugs and refill it at your kitchen sink.

the latest evolution of the macbeth pokémon.

genuine question, but are all american clothes cut like that? the silhouette is distinctly american. to the point where i can tell if a foreigner here in asia is from the USA or not just by the way their clothes fit or hang off them. very boxy. almost a certain prudishness and puritanism about the human figure ... ditto the combination of 'formal wear with trainers'. even US politicians have been doing that for what feels like a decade now. is that what you're aspiring towards? the white-soled sneaker look?

no bueno, i gotta tell you. the only politician who can carry off trainers is castro in his retirement.

also, minor fashion infelicity here, but you've got loads of pockets on your new UN peacekeeper vest and you're still putting large items in your trousers? big no-no to have visible bricks in your trousers (😏). get a pair that are properly tailored to your leg length and, ahem, 'seat', and keep the pockets for small change.

it's very odd that the richest country on earth mostly rely on leisurewear and 'dress up' in brooks brothers stuff straight off the peg. then you've got someone in like catania or the czech republic making $13k or $23k a year and still going to their neighbourhood tailor or cobbler, who has probably owned their storefront since the time of the warsaw ghetto, regularly getting things fixed and tucked and mended. the result is they actually look like adults dressed in adult clothes, and americans look like adult children playing dress-up for the day.

a hem adjustment for trousers is literally the simplest thing in the world. you could do it yourself. for about $15 and 25 minutes work, you can take a pair of trousers from 'high school prom photo in first ever suit' to 'capable professional'.

the 'r/menswear H1B' is mogging this look in comparison to macbeth. i am vouching for our resident misanthrope.

cheap, disposable, junky fast fashion floods commercial space like poisoned food fills our supermarkets.

we did talk awhile back about how workwear is everyday wear here. nobody here cares about the hem of your pants. the people running surviving small biz cobblers and tailors are either ancient, or immigrants working on stuff for other immigrants. even stuck up private schools do khakis and polo shirts like those van nazis awhile back.

it's wild that we're piling on macbeth's rumpled american look when 40 year old saggers are roaming the streets. if he were wearing socks and sandals i wouldn't bat an eye. he looks, oddly enough, like a suburbanite schoolteacher. maybe it all appeals to his convention crowd.

e: "mogging" is a bit of a blast from the past

why does this need a stupid trendy name and an influencer salespitch? shouldn't it be normal for adults to keep up on that stuff? fucking incels, man.

People wear sneakers with suits when they need to be on their feet for an extended period of time.

You can't see his feet but he is wearing sneakers because he is going to be up there for 2 hours running a convention.
