two people at the very ends of their lives, trying to live out their final slivers of time in rest and contemplation, and with dignity ... being confronted with actual hellspawn so they can mug off for the cameras and talk blandly at them in political platitudes.
my only conclusion is that our political class are quite literally demons. the forces of satan doing battle against heads of churches on earth. scoring a decisive hit on easter monday, as well ... truly we are living in the end times. chat-GPT and legalised weed have brought us here.

hell is choking on an immigration crisis and doesn't need any more of earth's riffraff. is it fair that the underworld be a celestial-mandated dumping ground for wayward spirits?

It was nice learning the Pope died from a BF2s comment.
he would have led a much more fulfilling life as a mechanical engineer.
a few non-catholic people in my circles are a little like mac in that they've watched too many mob flicks and identify as catholic through personality sponging. some of them have even adopted the affectation of crossing themselves, and buy catholic knickknacks. a lot are conservative, and have mixed and confused opinions about francis (and a lot of other stuff for that matter). on one hand, he was pope. on the other, a progressive liberal or something. they are going to be really invested in who the next pope will be, and i'll get to hear all about it from people who don't even attend mass.
i await the day i get an email from the DHS telling me i need to leave within 7 days. maybe it'll be the excuse i need to bail and fully disengage on american and hodgepodge -american culture.
