i've commented on this before. reasonable play cycles share marketspace with titles designed to retain engagement and hock dlc and in-app purchases. but they are out there. there's this subset of gaming articles with lists of games you can complete in an afternoon (if you don't care about 100%).
but imo, that a game needs to be quickly completable (or even beatable) like mario or something is kind of a long obsolete notion. we were all playing bf2, were we not? endless, while it lasted. there was even a minecraft server for awhile.
having a game (short or not) that you can just hop on and play a few minutes of before quitting was also the way people did it in the arcade days. the most important part is having fun with what time you're willing to put into this garbage.
