The real shit-storm of title confusion will happen when they release Battlefield Two.
stupid but interesting, game informer named Battlefield 2 the best of the series.

not that anyone needed reminding.

Started playing this game again for the first time since 2015. It is actually okay if you don't take it seriously.
So I bought a month of hacks for this game and had a pretty good time. Best experience I have had with a Battlefield game in like 8 years.

Literally hacker stats.

Two rounds of Operation Metro with an aimbot. The score per minute would be higher if I was able to finish the rounds and get my medals score added to the game total.
You've been paying for two years of hacks?
Nope. Two months within the last 2 years. The first account lasted a little less than a month before I was "soft banned" for "suspicious stats".
The way bans work for EA is that you can get banned from private servers that run the third party PB database that is maintained by the wannabe internet police. You could still go and play as hard as you want on EA official servers and private servers that also don't run PB database. Bans also don't travel between games. So the account that was banned in BF4 was allowed to play wherever I wanted in Battlefield V. But BF V was so bad that hacking was not even fun. The way gun play worked in that game didn't work well with aimbots.

I think the last time I played any BF was being roped into a 1v1 on BF4 (if that sounds right). Map full of shipping containers, just sat in place each time waiting for them to round a corner. Not terribly exciting.
Subnautica, on the other hand. Sea creature brought me some random lithium instead of trying to steal my flashlight. Riveting stuff.

BF4 is actually pretty good. It was redundant due to how similar and close to BF3 it was. Both games were better than almost anything that came out around them or since. Especially in terms of the Battlefield franchise.
Still though, Insurgency 2014 is the only FPS I feel like playing at all anymore.
