EA:
Over the past few years I've spent what, about $187 on Battleifield games (1, Vietnam, 2, SF, EF). AF is coming soon, then 2041 or whatever they're calling the Mechwarrior-field game... It's been a non-stop battle of fighting bad patches, updates that don't update, uninstalling, re-installing, blah-blah-blah.... real, live bugs are still there (example: name tags colors) but they "FIX" things that I never heard a living soul complain about (squad-hopping) and add "FEATURES" such as Cartillery.

Valve:
I bought Half Life 1 who knows how many years ago for $45. Between Half Life, HL deathmatch, Team Fortress, Counterstrike and Day of Defeat I got a bazillion hours of very happy gameplay. Then I bought HL2 for about $60... that got me HL2, HL2 deathmatch, CS:S and lots of great mods. Everything runs smooth as silk through Steam. Updates come down automatically and without trouble. Look at the update logs for CS:S... they're constantly fixing/updating/improving the game, WITHOUT requiring me to download this patch, install it, realize it's broken, search the forums, uninstall everything, reinstall in a certain order, etc.

WTF EA????  My single voice my not matter to you and your accounting department, but it's what I got.... and I ain't spending another dime on an EA product.  It's pretty obvious that EA is way more concerned with how they can get another $10, $30 or $50 out of a gamer than they are with providing the best possible gaming experience.

Sorry for the rant... I've seen the exact same rant a hundred times in these forums, but  I feel that I owe it to myself to speak my mind at least once.  Freedom of speech and all that jazz.

thats exactly how i feel. i can't believe that this company, a large one at that, who depends on people to buy their shit, completely disrepects their customers, basically saying: we dont care how much shit we put you through, here's some more stuff, how bout 10 more bucks??? ea makes some really great games, but their support sucks and everytime they fix something, they fuck it up more. screw them, im getting fed up too. lots of great games have come out that ive gotten a ton of fun out of, and had no troubles, and was only expected to pay the initial cost of the product. EA will not be around in 5 years if they continue this, and coming from a business school graduate, i think i have some clout in saying that, but ea doesnt care, and neither do i.... my two cents.

Ubisoft is a really good company.
They've just released GR:AW, I recommend getting it.
That game has just came out and already there are 2 patches, one week from each other.
Doesn't this show something?
They care about their customers.

Valve doesn't completely mess up a game when it gets patched, like with CS:S, they say new models...and you get new models

EA say Cartillery (WTF?) and you get Cartillery + lots of bugs.

Valve's game play is what has deterred me from getting there games.  I got HL2, I played, I'm like "WTF! This sucks!"  End of story.  I don't know why I'm always liking what everyone else hates.

Valves, is by far one of the best game companies around!

EA/DICE on the other hand, is one that had a good chance to catch up, but due to its continued failure with the BF2 game, will fall short of the expectations of many on-line gamers.

I think your an idiot if you keep spending money on EA games if they turn out to be so bad. Buyer beware. Just because your ignorant and lack common sense doesn't give you the right to bitch based on your OWN bad decision.

Realy hoping another company like Activision of Ubisoft takes up the idea of the Battlefield series. I dont meen copy it I meen like: large maps, long view distance, viechals and infantry balenced and easy to use. My hope that someone else notices the idea and tries something like this. Impossible for EA to copyright such a HUGE field of gameplay.

I was just comparing my personal experiences with EA and Valve. Sharing them with my fellow gamers in this wonderful open forum of free expression.
And as a matter of fact, I DO have the right to bitch about pretty much anything I want to. It's called freedom of speech, which I do believe I mentioned in my post.

And next time you want to point out someone's "ignorant", maybe you should do a grammer check...

"your ignorant" My ignorant? I don't recall owning an "ignorant". Now maybe you could have said "you're ignorant", that would have made sense.

On that note, I'm off to crack a nice ale and watch some world superbike racing on Speed...  Cheers!

superbike racing, was just watching that.  I love that track!

I was about to ban EA from my life when my G15 Keyboard LCD applet for bf2 stopped working but the guys updated it to make it work.  Without that screen working on 1.3 i was going to flip.

I recently looked back earlier this week on my past purchases from EA.  at least 60 games going back through time back to SEGA Genesis days of RoadRash and the like.  Then all of the Need For Speed games, the last truely good one was NFS High Stakes because the modding community made so much cool shit for it.  I know i made a few cars for that game.  Then EA thought up Porsche unleashed, horrible game to modify but thank god im a crazy porsche fan.  Hot Pursuit 2 was horrible with a replay with no rewind....remind you of battlerecorder?  Then EA started catering to the rice world with underground and most wanted.  Ill admit i bought those for pc and ps2 both and beat on both systems.  Ive given a buttload of dollars to electronic arts and i would just wish they would be more personable and not "update/patch" err screw them up.  Battlefield is the only game ive bought from EA that ive ever updated.

Oh and EA sucked the big one with The Godfather......kewl theme but the cars? the handling? omg vodniks handle better then the cars from The Godfather.

Command & Conquer was/is a great game.  I couldnt play red alert on my computer since i built it with XP but EA did one good thing, they updated the programs to work on XP and came out with C&C The first decade.  12 Games on one DVD.  I had a few of the games that it came with back in the day but the other games it came with i used to only play at my friends but its sweet that i can now again play them.

EA's Nascar Thunder 200_.............ya ok worthless game.  At least EA made Madden alright.

ok im sick of thinking of all the games that ive bought that were from EA.  RoadRash was the best, i wish i still had my SEGA Genesis!

Good racing on that track. Bayliss and Ducati owned it both races!  Next weekend MotoGP in Italy... Wonder if Rossi can get it together?   I'll have to record the MotoGP race because I'll be at Road America in Elkhart Lake for the AMA races.

To r0oki3:  I do play Valve games. And EA games. And Lucasarts. And id. Atari...ncSoft...Square...  Lots of games from lots of publishers.

No matter how you look at it, the handling of the BF2 franchise has been, shall we say, "less than optimal". Period.  It's still a cool game, fun to play, but it has so much potential to be even better. Why settle for sloppy mediocraty? EA/DICE could handle it better if they really wanted to. Kick the bean-counters out of the dev loop, and get on task.

I'll continue to play BF2, there's plenty of fun to be had, but I can't justify supporting them in the future (BF 2142). My $50 isn't going to make or break anything, it's not even a drop in their oceanic bank account... But it's $50 that I can use to support a company that gives a rip about the gaming community.

Ah, Valve. But do remember they got their ass flamed off because of STEAM. Although that is still alot better than EA Games actually supporting their games.

Steam did cause quite a bit of angst in the beginning. Today it's a pretty nice solution. Definitely light years ahead of EA Downloader.

Oh well... I'm spending too much time in the forums. I TRY to play BF2, but I can't make it through a round withouit either the game crashing to desktop, or the server I'm in crashing. In fact, since 1.3 was released, I have not been able to play through a single complete round.  What a waste.
Wonder what my old CS clan is up to these days...
