EA:
Over the past few years I've spent what, about $187 on Battleifield games (1, Vietnam, 2, SF, EF). AF is coming soon, then 2041 or whatever they're calling the Mechwarrior-field game... It's been a non-stop battle of fighting bad patches, updates that don't update, uninstalling, re-installing, blah-blah-blah.... real, live bugs are still there (example: name tags colors) but they "FIX" things that I never heard a living soul complain about (squad-hopping) and add "FEATURES" such as Cartillery.
Valve:
I bought Half Life 1 who knows how many years ago for $45. Between Half Life, HL deathmatch, Team Fortress, Counterstrike and Day of Defeat I got a bazillion hours of very happy gameplay. Then I bought HL2 for about $60... that got me HL2, HL2 deathmatch, CS:S and lots of great mods. Everything runs smooth as silk through Steam. Updates come down automatically and without trouble. Look at the update logs for CS:S... they're constantly fixing/updating/improving the game, WITHOUT requiring me to download this patch, install it, realize it's broken, search the forums, uninstall everything, reinstall in a certain order, etc.
WTF EA???? My single voice my not matter to you and your accounting department, but it's what I got.... and I ain't spending another dime on an EA product. It's pretty obvious that EA is way more concerned with how they can get another $10, $30 or $50 out of a gamer than they are with providing the best possible gaming experience.
Sorry for the rant... I've seen the exact same rant a hundred times in these forums, but I feel that I owe it to myself to speak my mind at least once. Freedom of speech and all that jazz.
