Anyone willing to call it? I'm going to say Obama but it could go either way. Entertaining regardless.

I could stomach a Mitt Romney presidency. I have no idea where he stands on most issues of course. I mean his most recent stance on social issues is pretty much completely opposite to what I support but it's not like I have to live with them and who knows if he'll completely backflip anyway. He is at least articulate and well-presented and despite a certain about of foot-in-mouth disease he's unlikely to become a walking punch line like George W Bush. And his choice of running mate isn't completely mental like John McCain's, (although I like McCain more than Romney.) On more important economic issues I would hope Romney and the Republican Party would have learned from the Bush years to not make the same mistakes and certainly Romney will be more open to working with business than Obama which is a good thing. Not sure what that means for social programs because Romney seems to change his stance on them like he changes the colour of his foundation.

Mitt's bizarre upbringing, his record, his even more bizarre religious and personal beliefs, his social viewpoint... I feel I have to echo Stephen fry's sentiment:

Stephen Fry wrote:

Voting time in the US. None of my business, but I have met Mitt and … well. Please not. Please.
But I could see him as an adequate President at least. I still don't want him to be. For one I think it's the one thing in his privileged life that he doesn't deserve to be just handed. For two Americans gave two terms to Bush, it just doesn't seem fair to throw out Obama after he killed the man Bush couldn't, ended one war Bush started, planned the end of the second war Bush started, repaired the damage to the reputation of the US that Bush did, turned around the economy that Bush fucked, and had to campaign under the notion that he wasn't allowed to mention that he did all this because it was 'blaming the last administration'. For three, endorsements. Completely pointless thing to mention but I'm going to anyway because I thought it was funny. Obama had Clinton rallying a crowd, Romney had Clint talking to a Chair. Obama had Springsteen playing at his speech, Romney had Meat Loaf strangling a cat. Obama got the endorsement from The Economist, Romney got the endorsement from four-time bankrupt Donald Trump and Charles Montgomery Burns. Even in the final days, Obama has Katy Perry, Romney has Kid Rock.

(Though in fairness to Romney he got the endorsement of Jenna Jameson. Obama got Ron Jeremy.)

Either way, as long as whoever's in charge does their best not to majorly fuck up the global economy or start a whole bunch of new wars I'm good whatever happens.

Its not a question of knowing where he stands, I don't believe he stands anywhere.

I don't believe the GOP have learned anything, except to keep Bush out of sight, and we don't know what their plans are besides 'more freedom' and other platitudes no-one can deliver on so we can't say.

I'm really surprised the Dems didn't really lay into the eight years of Bush and paint Romney as Bush 2.

What exactly was there for the GOP to learn in the first place?  1 bad president for the GOP making stupid decisions and suddenly everyone in the GOP is an idiot?

The only person in American politics worse than Bush in the past decade is Harry Reid.  Take a look at his voting record and, more importantly, his influence over the other democrats as the Majority Leader and how he influenced their voting records.  That man is single handedly responsible for shutting down the legislative process over the past 8 or so years.  If it doesn't adhere to the DNC mindset it gets immediately shot down.

What would happen if the rest of the world got to pick the US Presidential race?

Looks decisive but I'd be interested to see the one ranked by support for Romney.

I really don't understand why these polls are even made. Random people around the world know even less about US politics than the average American voter, half of them barely know who Mitt Romney is save for stupid soundbites that circle round the globe. Not to mention that the thought itself is fucking ludicrous.

It's only relevant when it comes to foreign policy. Not sure how the US perceived Bush but the rest of the world thought he was a blithering idiot.
