Exactly. The more I read about it, the more I love.

It's not a traditional MMO, but from what I can tell, it would run like Minecraft/DayZ, in the sense of public servers (possibly connected to a "Master" server for world info) and then 100~ slots on each.

I kind of wanted it to be an MMO, but this method works, also.

Easy mode for me was always force speed.
I did pretty much every boss battle by running around like a manic gerbil, hitting enemies on the head.
Once, I activated force speed immediately after the cut-scene ended and split the boss' head a second later, before he had the chance to pull out his light saber and activate shields.

When I tried to play Jedi Academy a few years ago, I quit and uninstalled pretty quick, since I couldn't bear that outdated, linear gameplay anymore.
Are the Force Unleashed games any good?
AFAIK, they are 3rd-person view only, and you don't have any weapons other than your light saber and the force.
if they made a new open source engine we could have billions of online maps.
And character creation beyond the 6 or so choices with 3 faces each. In a galaxy with thousands of intelligent species the character customization should be a little bit better. You should start off as a Padawan and begin training on Yavin 4. Then you become an apprentice to a Jedi Knight and go on missions. Eventually you become a Jedi Knight and get to explore the galaxy in your personal star fighter. From there you can either choose the path of a wandering Jedi Knight, or become a Sith lord, or seek the lonely unknown of Wild Space and make yourself one with the force and be accepted as Jedi Master.
And all of this can take place in an online universe.
Too bad Jedi Knight is dead (well, the continued franchise, not the servers). I'd like to see a non-MMO KotoR with more of an FPS feel and a EaW freedom of movement.

I'm sure we'll see one once TOR inevitably dies from disinterest and they realize these games can only work as MMOs.  They finally unveiled their F2P model and it's basically hardly F2P at all, the game is so fucked now, I wish they'd never wasted the time and potential making it into an MMO and just used all that existing story content for another one or two KotOR games

I remember trying to play the multiplayer of Jedi Academy. I'd say eight out of every ten servers was a 'social' server in which people would literally get their characters to stand around and disjointedly type at each other while that annoying John Williams 'fight' music carried on ad nauseum in the background. Every now and then someone would jump out of the circle, do a flip, swing their lightsaber around a bit as if to remind themselves that they were playing a fucking Star Wars game and then get back into the circle. They'd auto-stun anyone who caused an injury to another and eventually kick you if you weren't partaking in the bizarre lesser-known-pop-culture-reference council meeting - which mostly consisted of typing "lol" and "i know right".

Insane. I think I managed to find the most boring group of people in all of computer gaming.

What was the name of that game (I think someone posted a video here about it) where you were a guy that had a cell phone that could control electricity (sorta) and hack other people's electronic gadgets. I think it came out within the last year and the demo-video was set in a city at night when it was raining and the guy walked into a club. Sorry that's all I remember.

Also has anybody played Dishonored? I'm looking for a new game...

I dunno, their games just don't feel very Star Warsy anymore. I'd rather reload Tie Fighter CD than play TOR. What would make me happy is is if I saw a true-blue FPS and a space fighter in the style of the old X-Wing sort of games from them, and if they licensed Telltale to continue some of the old Lucasarts adventure games. But we both know that won't happen.

Bad RP is bad. If you want to do that, make a MUSH/MOO or something. You must've joined at the tail end of JA gaming, because most servers I've seen were just about playing the game in whatever mode they were set for.

reminds me of deus ex, bioshock and thief. i like creeping around undetected but still being able to on a slaughtering rampage if required.

plus different way to go about your objectives is always a nice touch

Yeah. Absolutely everything. No doubt about that.

This sounds very good indeed.

Also, Harvey Smith (System Shock, Deus Ex) is one of the designers.
He did bork DX:IW though.

It's a good game but it's so short.

Also there is a different ending depending on how stealthy you are. And being stealthy is infinitely less fun than killing people in this game.
