Just reformat it and stop being lazy. It is so easy.

And I reinstalled my sound drivers, defragmented, repaired installed on origin and played 2 whole 1000 ticket rounds with no crash. So far so good.

It is? I'm only judging by the 5 recent pre-builts my family has owned where the majority of BIOS settings are locked... They let you "Enable" and "Disable" certain features, but FSB, memory clocks, voltages etc etc are all locked.steelie34 wrote:
ok that bios thing lbj said is just wrong.Little BaBy JESUS wrote:
On most pre-built computers/laptops most significant BIOS options are locked anyway.MC1173 wrote:
I think you press F1 during the blue HP screen for setup. (Not exactly sure)
Guessing that may not be your problem, if you haven't changed any settings in your BIOS already.
Your settings are probably already set to default, or auto.
Hope someone else has a better idea.
I assume you've tried this already, but when I was having crashing issues a simple Origin "repair install" fixed it for me.

@globefish23 any tips on how to check?
http://www.memtest.org/#downiso
Either burnt to a CD or a bootable USB key drive.
Or this: http://www.memtest86.com/download.html
HDD:
Check your HDD manufacturer's website for dedicated testing tools.
Also: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofth … hddiag.htm
The first two work for any HDD brands, not only Seagate or Hitachi.
This should work too: http://hddscan.com/
thanks i'll check that out if i get another crash.
what about the temps?

k it froze again. it usually freezes when my fans turn on as well. so maybe it has to do with the temps. I'm gonna reformat. But I need to know whats the difference between reinstalling windows and doing a system recovery? Don't they do the same thing basically except with a system recovery I dont need a disk to reinstall windows.
EDIT: I just googled it since you guys cant tell me and it seems like a reformat is better

nope, only come on after i play the game for an hour or so like it normally does.
Gonna do a system recovery. Tell me if this is too hot, its my temps right now hearing the fan spin 15 mins after the crash.
pretty high for idle cpu temps
buy a notebook cooler and dust out that shit inside

I have a cooler but looking at videos on how to disassemble an hp dv laptop and get to the heatsink/fan to dust out makes me not want to do it in fear of breaking the laptop. I doubt its a dust issue. Gonna reformat tomorrow.
Thanks for the help guys.

I'm reformatting. After reading some more I think it has to do with the onboard audio thing, because I get a soundloop on some crashes like I've seen in YouTube videos. I don't think it has to do with dust or temps tbh. Cause I can run other games for hours just fine.
This is the exact crash I get

63 Celsius @ 4.3% cpu utilisation is a joke.
if that isn't whats causing you to crash well now you got 2 problems to fix.

Yeah completely disassembling my laptop to reach the fan/heatsink to dust is the last thing I want to do.
its maybe worth taking it to a proper tech shop to get it done if you're not confident opening your laptop up. shouldn't cost much or take too long, and that's running really hot

Happened to me every day, I tried everything I could find on google, nothing helped. I just quit and took a break for 2 months and today I played without any crash. Strange that it started to happen after latest patch, before that I had no problems at all. I somehow already gave up trying to fix it, as this is not my PC's issue imo, so neither yours I guess.
There is no guarantee that reformat will help, so just get used to it and plan how to reboot faster.
