I don't like spending money for spendings sake. I have a five year old PC that still runs XP because it's all I currently need. If I bought a $150 keyboard it would be worth more than my entire PC

people are slamming it. using the reds on some/all of the keys is just a way of cutting costs, afaik.

aren't the celeritas pretty loud when typing?
I need to change this almost 3 year old keyboard...the space bar is broken now.

I would like to find one with brown switches and white backlit keys myself. Doesn't need to be bright... Always seems they want to do blue, red, or green back-lighting though.

where do you get that from? they're brown switches. even the most basic research will tell you they're not loud.

here's a protip: brown switches are used on the das keyboard silent edition

also why do you want backlighting? move on from that tacky plastic-era rubbish. backlights help nothing. a lot of mechanical keyboards don't even have key-printing, let alone fucking backlights. it's such superfluous, tacky crap.

you can't get the das in europe, only in north america. also the das keyboards are typing-only: they have no 'bonus' features. the zowie has lots of gaming-savvy features and is designed with gaming in mind. the das is pure typing (which is why the main model uses the blue switches, which are typing switches, not gaming switches as razor tries to pawn them).

Media keys is also something that distinguishes quite a lot of the keyboards on offer.

This is was really the biggest reason why i don't have a mechanical one yet.
I was very tempted to buy a zowie celeritas when i found out that it does have them, but i just want to buy a new keybard for gaming (my current one is fine). I will most likely buy a celeritas (probably brown switches) as soon as i start uni again.

I picked a Razer Black widow, up in October, for $80.00. Love it. Yes its loud, but I dont hear it while I'm playing! Backlit keys are awesome for dim, late night gaming- 5 lefels of brightness, 5 macro buttons, macro software and knowledge that I wont be buyuing another keyboard for at least 10 years! Im a happy camper!

I always preferred gaming in low light so I found backlit keyboards handy. Despite what you seem to think, there are ways of making that stuff look good, just the whole gaming industry is obsessed with making it look like their products came off of a alien space craft.

I am thinking of getting a Qpad, money is no object for peripherals, I have always found the more you spend the better the experience.

ATM I use a saitek eclipse, because i love having dedicated buttons for volume and next/previous track in foobar2k!

If they made a mechanical kboard with those 4 little buttons in the top right above the NUMPAD I would be all over it like AIDS in Africa.
