I'm considering buying this. I had planned on skipping buying games outside of the half life series from now on (I figured 2 grand on games was enough), but considering the huge decrease in players on BFBC2 I might have too.

Anyways, I'm still running my same set up from my thermal paste days:
nVidia 8800GTX
4GB of DDR2 RAM
Q6600
7200RPM hard drive

wondering what kind of settings I'm going to be looking at playing this game. I can run BFBC2 at all highs except for AA and AS filtering which are both turned off.

I'd considered building a computer again with the same tower and PSU but my business had a slight accident in which 30grand worth of equipment was destroyed, so that's a no go for the moment.
Did you accidentally put thermal paste on the wrong side of a hell of a lot of processors?

q9550, GTX 460, 4 GB RAM
Been able to run everything on high, aa off, post aa high, full af, vsync, motion blur, hbao without any issues at 1920x1080. Hell I was even able to bump everything up to ultra and full aa when playing co-op.

Went ahead and ordered an SSD today. Load times are annoying and I needed one anyway.

A lot of people think 40 fps is fine, but really anything under 60 is an eyesore in fps games

With or without MSAA/AF?

I can run it on high/ultra mix if i'm using MSAA/AF (Constant 70-80 fps)

i7 930 4ghz
2GB HD6970
12GB RAM

If I turn MSAA/AF off I can run it all on ultra with constant 80-90 fps

MSAA is pretty much useless. Doesn't offer much for how hard it hits framerates, at least in my experience.

Get the 2500k.  It's like $5 more and well worth it.

I have the mobo you have listed, not bad but I would spring for something else. ASROCK Extreme3 Gen3 (i think that's the name)

I need to get back into the loop with technical stuff, my PC is unfortunatly beginning to shows its age and I'll have to start thinking about upgrading soon.

Attempting to build a new PC specifically for BF3 and MW3 that will last 2-3 years.

i5 2500k 3.3 Ghz
4GB RAM
GTX 560 1GB

But I'm debating whether a large standard HD or splurge on the SSD. From what I've heard, load times are considerably long and if SSD is actually worth the extra $150-$200, then I'd be down to get a 2nd HD. Anyone have any information or experiences with these two options?
