If a vessel tries to break through our blockade on Libya what do you think will happen?
That is different to attacking buses full of civilians.

So its OK to kill civilians, in international waters, if you tell them you're going to illegally board their ship beforehand?FEOS wrote:
And then the Israelis acted only when they were attacked after boarding (after warning they were going to do so).

Nice spin, Hamas Propaganda Minister...AR wrote:
Oh so they were the ones attacking, after threatening to board and then doing so.
It's okay to board another vessel because you gave notification before hand.

Yet at the same time I'm sure you'll argue that Hamas is an illegal terrorist organisation. Even though it was democratically, peacefully and legitimately elected and recognised by the UN.FEOS wrote:

When a blockade has been established and the world has been notified of the blockade, those attempting to run the blockade are taking certain risks in doing so. One of those risks is that they will be boarded and searched. Not attacked. Searched for the items the blockade has been put in place to prevent.
If you're attacked by said civilians when legally boarding the ship because it's trying to run a legal blockade? Sure. It's called "self-defense" and is recognized by every court in the world.
It is still recognized as a terrorist organization by the UN, IIRC, as well as most countries...at least Western democracies.AussieReaper wrote:

oh, so called "western democracies" can decide allright. the thing is, the world - and, thus, the UN - doesn't only consist of those.Cheeky_Ninja06 wrote:

Quite a few countries recognise Israel as a terrorist nation, which they are, so meh.FEOS wrote:

I take it your source in this is a country with credible leadership such as Iran?Dilbert_X wrote:

Shahter the constant insinuating that we're all not really democratic and other such conspiracy mumbo jumbo is getting a bit tiresome, really.Shahter wrote:

No, large scale international surveys, and the UNGA.Shocking wrote:

This is why religious fruitloops shouldn't be in government."The Obama policy of moral equivalency, which gives equal standing to the grievances of Israelis and Palestinians, including the orchestrators of terrorism, is a dangerous insult."
What a well thought out policy - I believe in a sky-beardo therefore...The Texas governor said his religious faith was a reason for his support of Israel.
Your country was formed from land taken from others too. Fuck off.venom6 wrote:

Israel was created on Palestinian land! They also occupied a lot more land what they actually "got" from the UN in 1947.

Why all the hate? Why dont they stop all the agression? Israel should fall back from the occupied land!

Obama...like every US president since Carter (if not earlier) supports a two-state solution. As does the PA. As does Israel. As does most of the rest of the world (minus a few extremist holdouts). They just disagree as to whether this particular tactic is the best method to achieve that end goal. Fully supporting Israel on this is fully supporting a two-state solution...which is also supporting the PA's ultimate goal, as well.
Borders change based on geopolitical realities. That's why direct negotiations need to happen. Worked out really well the last time the UN just declared something over there, didn't it?
