I think we're thinking of different ages. How old are your kids?
My sons are 13 and 14 now.
Well yes, it is very easy to keep track of them and tell when they're lying at that age.

I was thinking more 17/18
If you did your job at 13 and 14, 17 and 18 should still be no problem. Just like if you did your job at 5 and 6 9 and 10 shouldn't be a problem. They know right and wrong, and right and wrong doesn't change with age. I have taught my sons respect for others and integrity and honesty. To be honest the only thing that is a fine line for me is teaching them respect for others, while not letting people walk all over you.

As people open their mind at that age and become their own person views of right and wrong change.

I can agree with that, however if what was right and wrong worked for you and your kids see that, there is no reason to think they wouldn't adopt it for themselves unless your kids are so fucked up that they want what is wrong for them. Then again that might just go back to being a shitty parent.

I have worked on the registration side of this and am disgusted by some of the lame stuff I see.

A guy peed outside in the middle of his wooded 50 acres and his penis was seen by a teenager on his was to go skinny dipping in his pond, without the man's knowledge. Yay, sex offender for life.

A guy got drunk at a bar and peed in the alley behind it with no one around except the cop who saw him walk back there and sneaked up on him. Sex offender for life.

A teenager slapped his girlfriend's ass in public and it humiliated her, even though they were regularly having sex. Sex offender for life.

A 15 year old kid playing paintball teabagged his victim like he said was always done in his favorite online shooter game. Sex offender for life.

Two 16 kids make out in a park in the middle of the night and get caught by a cop as the male was fondling the female's breasts. Sex offender for life.

A 20 year old that got a BJ in an elevator at college without realizing there was a hidden camera in there. Sex offender for life.

Come on people... These are NOT sex crimes. Are they crimes? Most of them. Assault. Public indecency. Public intoxication. A number of things that they could be charged for, just like the OP's case... I don't believe in "boys will be boys" either. I think they should be punished... But punished for the rest of their lives? Having to announce to the police every time they move or change jobs? Having to announce to their apartment owners that they are sex offenders? Having to have their pictures put up on the apartment community bulletin board? Never being allowed within 1,000 feet of a school, daycare, nursery (including Church), etc? Come on. The system is a joke.

They should have just murdered them and served 4 years in Juvie and then had their records purged. The system is ridiculous.

^ There are clearly some excesses, that stuff is just daft.

Its one thing to be nailing paedophiles and violent rapists - they don't change and deserve to be followed.

Kids doing kids stuff just shouldn't be counted - in which I don't include the OP.

Good parents know, and if you do not know your own kids, how the fuck can you claim to be a good parent?
Like I said, everyone is different with different people. Do you not agree?

Do you think your kids are the same with their friends as they are at home?
Nope, but I know who their friends are, I know if they have lied to me. I know when their habits changes, I know when their schedule is not jiving, I know when they are late, I know when they didn't show up, I know what their grades are, I know if there is a shift in their attitude, on and on and on.

The thing is, liars are not consistent, and catching a teen age liar ain't hard, IF you are up on your kids lives.

and yes, the reports I get back from the other parents help as well. and my kids have never gotten criticized for their behavior.
If big brother monitoring of your kids is what being a good parent means then I guess you win. I thought it was about imparting life skills and preparing them for the big bad world.

I dont understand how you can say that below 18 everybody should be completely monitored in every aspect of the behaviour and daily routine but once they get to 18 then there should be no monitoring at all and they should do whatever they want, anything else is an attack on personal freedom.

To me those are to diametrically opposed arguments. Yes you need to look after your kids, obviously, and a good upbringing is important in life, but honestly?

It's pretty sad how the world comes to this. Years ago the kids who did this would probably have copped a hiding, never done it again and everyone moves on. Now we have the situation where the law decides that kids are criminals for life whilst they're still kids. It's fucked up.

It is not monitoring your kids. It is being involved in their lives and if you do not think you should be involved in your kids lives to teach them morality, respect, ethics, pride self worth etc..then please don't be a parent THose things come from your upbringing, it is not the govts. job to raise your stupid ass....as desperately as you want to try and make raising kids the same thing as govt. intrusion in your life, it isn't.

When you have kids of your own, and you raise them with no involvement or as you would like to say, "monitoring" get back with me and let me know how that worked out for ya.

Lol because there is absolutely nothing between "I know everything about them" and have no involvement in their lives.

I wish the world was as black and white as you see it.

Yeah I was thinkin' the same thing with your assertion that  raising your kids was the same damn thing as govt. intrusion on your life as a law abiding citizen.

lol, feel free to join them, but please remember you are the one that compared raising kids to  fuckin govt. involvement in your life. If that is the quality of argument you want to bring to the table then please, ignore me.

Oh, well I don't know why he would ask you about something so personal about me. Anyway,  I assume you didn't know the answer so I took the liberty to answer it.

The world does not revolve around me, but you would never guess by the way people like you keep posting about me.
