It's hard to say if it will be back. I think the purpose of the beta shots is to illustrate textures, geometry and lighting.
i hope not.
Or at least, not as dense as in BF2.
Maybe making it completely clear is shitty for multiplayer because, well, theres plenty of points where you can snipe from one side of the map to the other side.

Warlord would be awesome with destructible environments. Palace hallways collapsing, floors bottoming out, soldiers breaching from a blown out roof.

I'd like to see a day/night cycle of sorts, or the ability to set the time of day for the maps.

Pre-E3 excitement for Battlefield 3 is starting to gain moment with less than a week to go before the EA press conference and the E3 floor opens. The DICE devs have been teasing us by tweeting small bits of information seen below. They reveal that Patrick Bach will be up on stage giving the presentation on Monday.
DICE also appear to be holding a press event today in their offices in Stockholm, Sweden. It's unknown when the embargo on this information will expire, but Friday could be a high possibility.
Gaming peripheral manufacturer, Razer posted a Battlefield 3 style trailer hinting that they soon carry some type of Battlefield 3 products. Check out the embedded video below. The end of the video directs you to RazerZone.com/BF3 where you can put your email in to hear about any upcoming information.

Earlier today, DICE Senior Video Director, Roland Smedberg tweeted he recorded 4 hours of Battlefield 3 multiplayer footage and was working on editing it down to "a minute or so". When asked when the video would be released he said E3. The tweet has since been deleted.
