I told you that almost everyone in that part of the world is a Muslim so people shouting there's going to be an "Islamic" backlash is kind of an unnecessary statement. They're all followers of Islam.

What it does tell is that the people shouting such stuff can't actually seem to separate belief and political and/or emotional motivation.

Also the picture that's being drawn in that article of the people here is incredibly wrong. Yeah, there's debate about it - just as much as there is in the US itself. On CNN there's an article about a poll in a college class, 50% was uneasy with the celebrations 50% wasn't. About the same deal here I reckon.

So I feel the term "many" is misleading as it suggest a majority or something.

I was upset about the celebrations not because of moral implications but because I didn't think people were that dumb.
