For a force that conquered the world, they donĀ“t seem to act all that clever. And the Knife superweapon pisses me off.
This was not a very good game.
The gameplay was rather "meh" and didn't add a lot to the genre, but at the same time they didn't really fuck anything up bad in that area either. So, moderate points there.
All they had working for them was the awesome idea of having to fight it out across the US territories. Starting in some random town out in middle america? Meh, again. However, once I got to Marin and I was like, "Fuck yeah, I can see my house from here. Can't wait till I get into San Francisco!"
Then you get to fight a fun battle across the bridge (which, jesus, why hadn't it fallen? We just had a team of 4 jets and an AC-130 bomb the shit out of an enemy armor company...) and as soon as you get to the other side....credits roll. Wait, wtf? That was 4 hours of game play. Seriously? All you fuckers did was go on and on about how awesome the story was and how lucky you'd all been to have whoever-the-fuck-writer-that-was on your team helping you with this. The staff writers for the tv show 24 did a better job year after year and got through 8 x 24 hours of material. Hope they didn't pay that guy too much.
In the end, the gameplay wasn't remarkable, the character were uninteresting and forgetable (let's not talk about the "Hey, look, Alex from HL2" chick), the story was interesting, but the game failed to truly execute on the idea and fell, quite literally, too short of where it should have gone.
Overall, I'd not recommend buying this.

So not very good, but not all that bad?
How about when the price drops to, say, $20 USD?

lots of annoying things in mp... Mediocre game, but switching between this and bc2 whenever I feel like playing a fps should keep me busy until bf3 comes out

I am trying really hard to enjoy the multiplayer, but I get disconnected about 20 minutes into every 2nd game -- so I can only play for about 40 minutes before I rage quite the whole thing.steelie34 wrote:

ah me too! not that it's any consolation, but it's nice to know i'm not the only one. at first i just thought it was steam acting up, but it does seem like i crash every few games. i have tweaked all the different gfx settings to no avail.chuyskywalker wrote:

I don't get disconnected, but I get lagspikes around every 20 minutes where my ping goes over 9000 (no, seriously, it jumps to between 9000-9500)
and my fps drops to the bottom.

Doh. I type "quite" far more often then "quit" I suppose. Kind of like it's impossible for me to type "serve" without typing "server".unnamednewbie13 wrote:

im going to put this out there:
best multi fps since bf2
i dont know why, but it really has that same feel. the maps are small for sure, but then again, did you really like running ten miles to get sniped and have to spawn far away again?
there are some glaring flaws and omissions, but the multi is balanced really well. vehicles are rape machines, unless you're smart (same as bf2) and the infy is straight up kill or be killed. this game will hold me over until bf3 for sure.

No, because I've never really dealt with that. Learn to spot and kill snipers.steelie34 wrote:

infy was always the weakest part of my bf2 game. my reflexes couldn't keep up with the energy-drink hopped-up teenagers with $600 video cards. guess thats why i like this game, i can die much more often and get back into battle sooner
i am maintaining a positive kdr though, like 1.67 or something

Patch got released yesterday. Fixes a lot of MP issues and boosts performance. Snipers have been nerfed as well.
The changes, for the curious: http://www.homefront-game.com/blog-post … -available
I may give this a go again.
