It's been cited on bf2s that apparently the US needs one according to some for a "united cause".

Does the Islamic world need a boogeyman to avoid dealing with other internal issues?

Internal issues like equal rights, large gaps in wealth between classes, racial, and religious divisions...etc

And of course, why do the islamics HAVE to give a shit about Israel and vice versa?

They don't like Israel 'cause they are westernized. They like living in the stone age and don't care about progress in technology. Israel is just concerned about their country's possible destruction so relations with Muslims is terrible.
The irony of guns, is that they can save lives.

no, and if any intelligence remained within bf2s, you'd probably get a good answer. i would guess Iran cares about Lebanon because they both hold similar religious beliefs. (if i recall, they practice the same sect of Islamism).

my reply to warman would have to cover a doctorates'  dissertation in both history and politics, when i'm already 20 minutes overdue of leaving work.

it's 4:20 pm, gentlemen. Good day, see you this evening . . .

exactly the point of the thread...different religious beliefs = does that need to be the boogeyman?

Everyone needs a boogeyman.

For the British it was the French
Americans had Communists and saucer people, now muslims.
Germans had Jews
Muslims have Israel and the West
Irish Catholics had Protestants and vice versa

Not defensive at all.

You're just oversimplifying a much more complex issue. Too bad you can't see that.

I guess what I'm leading up to here is: do you think a war between Israel & enemies is necessary to sort this out?

War is never necessary.

Also, Warman, the Islamic world in the past were the keepers of all the ancients texts and information that would've been destroyed had the dark ages engulfed the entire world (thankfully those stayed in Europe.) Granted that's a very brief summary that (as burnzz said) would take a dissertation and several semesters of studying to fully understand.

Stopped the genocide of millions of people. The atomic age came from it, rapid advancement into numerous technologies.

WW II was only inevitable really, considering how WW I ended I don't think there was anything else that could've happened. Necessary? I guess.

I've always wondered why Muslims (outside of Isreal's neighbourhood) give so much of a shit about Israel too, I'm guessing the main reason it resonates around the entire Islamic world is because of all the shit in Jerusalem. They had it for centuries, built Mosques and stuff there and then made them into some of the holiest sites in the religion. So when it did fall to another group, it became a big issue for everyone of that religion.

Then again, the reason why the Western world cares about Israel is because of religion too, that and the nauseating collective guilt of the Holocaust that seems to be driven down everyone's throat. It wouldn't make sense for it to be just politics as to why Israel is the big ally, why bother then? Why bother going through all of that just to create an ally in the region? If it was just politics and most importantly business, then none of this shit would have happened as it would be very unnecessary.

This is a true statement. What you posted before was incorrect.

Politicians need bogeymen in order to focus the peoples' attention elsewhere. If their attention were focused on the politicians, then there would be too much chance of accountability/revolution by the people (see the ME today).

See what happens to government power when there is a bogeyman for the people to focus on: it expands dramatically.

Doesn't every group need a bogeyman?

Common enemy = solidarity and sometimes profit for an elite section of society
