Actually, in a recent issue of TIME magazine, they believe that they caught the first glimpses of stars before the Big Bang. We're talking 100's upon 100's of billions of light years, maybe more. They used the CFHT on top of Mauna Kea in Hawaii.USAFDude_1988 wrote:

I think the biggest question is.... what would the telescope see if it could look past those galaxies....?
What if we could see what space was like before the Big Bang?
It was SO far that Einstein's theory of gravity having an effect on the light became quite apparent when the stars they were looking at seemed oddly magnified. They were magnified because over such an immense amount of distance, the gravity actually BENT the light so much so that it acted as a magnifying glass, thus allowing them to see these images.
