no one 'needs' to buy them. your problem with pc games seems to be that there's a lot of unnecessary shit... but why does that actually bother you? it's UNNECESSARY, that's exactly the whole point. if anything, it's a bonus to pc gamers that there's a choice and option. if you don't like or get along with a particular console controller... it's basically tough-shit.

having done both i prefer the analog stick..
plus i dont have to buy a uber 100000zillion dpi gamer mouse
I use the cheapest mouse and keyboard I can get my hands on for FPS gaming and they last for years at a time. For a benchmark, have a ~3 KDR with ~40k kills in BF2. For flight, I move to a simple joystick with a little non-spring thumb throttle. I have a gamepad as well with analog input, but it's reserved for platformers.
PC users have a choice to buy a bunch of extra bullshit that we don't need, but the beauty part is that we don't
have to.

dont forget the $5000 70 inch TV to play in on.
and a $2000 cinema sound system to boot as the TV speakers will be wank
and pay $60 for a each game
Sweet deal brah!
Any console I have that's capable of it is just plugged into my computer monitor via selector switch and/or AV receiver. Exact same thing I use for PC games.
