but also long periods of relatively little listening, too... so it kinda averages out
the bigger effort than the playcount is maintaining the diverse library: discovering new shit, following new genres as they evolve, staying on the pulse. that takes some serious research + collection time. the actual listening is the enjoyable after-thought

I'm basing my assumption on the fact I re-tag pretty much everything I download. So therefore the stuff on the server is likely incorrect.
i'd use subsonic over this xmas hols but i don't think my housemates would be too happy about me just leaving my computer on for 2 weeks with nobody in the house

I am starting to do this more. I mean, isn't that the main point? Exploring artist, getting recommendations. There are a million ways to share things online, like musical taste. That's the thing. My collection is small by comparison. So is my listening time. Last.fm and friends can help get me to where I want to be, quickly.

I've never tried it. I mostly look at artists my friends with similar tastes are listening to and last.fm's recommendation engine. I use what.cd's recommendations too

I use the radio at work every once in a while. Just classical tag. Don't really use it for exploring.

he has taken an increasingly soulful/r&b vibe for his last few releases. he stepped out from behind the decks/laptop as one of dubstep's most original dj's and producers and dared to sing and use his own vocals-- which are surprisingly good. it's extremely rare to see a young guy of 21 steal not only the dubstep scene (in london, where it matters most, anyway) with his sets, but then also to be released on extremely exclusive label(s), to then again make a huge daring leap into this entirely new direction. very brave and very applaudable. he's meant for big things.
