Been running a backup utility now, but haven't gotten a corrupted game since.
Learned a few things, but the game still really lacks a specific goal other than to mine for diamond to make tools to mine for more diamond. So I did what most other people are doing and started dicking around with redstone. I have a decent understanding of boolean algebra and logic gates, but unfortunately the game seems to be too flakey to predict whether or not the 'wiring' is going to take place. Standing by for another patch. I wish I could do more when it comes to trap doors, conditions, remote fire starting and timed fire starting in less space. Actual floodgates would be wonderful.

TNT isn't great.. cause it's expensive... in terms of resources, and it's a 1off.

Or at least, don't dig the block you're standing on.
What can be even worse though is to dig upwards.
While you can react to slow flowing lava and quickly place a block to stuff the hole, water could seriously mess up your business, extinguishing all your torches and making your mining adventure a cave diving one.
