The article has no relevance to this thread as it fails hard, instead please read the following and let it soak in for a second.

"The United Nations has rated the floods in Pakistan as the greatest humanitarian crisis in recent history with more people affected than the South-East Asian tsunami and the recent earthquakes in Kashmir and Haiti combined. "

I would like to discuss the title. In my opinion; we can take bf2s complete? lack of a thread in regards to this topic and enlarge it on at least the Western world.

Discuss.

Edit: To explain further, I am not saying its completely ignored, just as I am not saying posts about this topic don't exist.

Back when the rioting that displaced thousands was going on everyone was jumping down the Jews throats for boarding a ship going to a blockaded area.

It was funny how that incident threw world wide protest and anger while the ethnic roits didn't. The media and the public are really selective when it comes to outrage.

In anycase, the reason why this is getting largely ignored in the U.S. media is because it's Pakistan. That's the reason. Sorry.

that entire region has been undergoing huge political changes and revolutions because of a nepotistic family-ran presidential regime running the country into the ground, as well as completely ballsing up the entire ethnic balance of the area. there are cities dominated by one ethnicity in the middle of countryside owned by another, etc. it's a mess. left behind by stalin.

and for the pakistani thing -- i agree. the media's treatment of disasters, crises and accidents is so ridiculously inconsistent.

I'm sure it is, but I doubt I've clicked on articles about Pakistan if I happen to be on an online news source, and my shitty newspaper hasn't had the best coverage of it (not that I'm interested anyway, but I'm a captive audience when eating breakfast).

1000's of people legging it from a group of crazies hell bent on looting and burning the odd home isnt going to make the international news. They got away from potential harm no harm done, therefore wtf is there to report? A ship carrying aid to people denied basic neccessities that ended up being forcefully boarded and leading to deaths of the crew/passengers? Well that will. Now were both bias assholes, but im sure you're still have the ability to apply to power of logic.

The roits were across the whole country, were planned and organized, plenty of deaths occurred, request for Russian military assistance by the government was denied, riots were unprovoked and it was more than a few 1000 people being displaced. It was as much a story as the ship issue.

As for bias, I'm not some super pro Israel person. I'm sure you don't know my feelings about that whole thing.

holy fuck, dude, what a shit you've got for brains. the conflict that's been re-ignited in that region is, like, several hundred years older than stalin. if anything, soviets were just about the only people under whos rule that shithole had been somewhat calmed down.
