Our pool is finally warmed up, went for the first swim of the season

Anyway, made me think.. In summer it can get too hot to workout decently, I reckon, so why not work out in the pool lol?
Anyone know if this is possible with some exercises or I would I better of with not wasting my time?

I know there is a lot of great resistance training and cardio work you can do. Seen some videos of it aswell.

Isn't just swimming itself a decent workout for most of your body? I don't know for sure, but I heard that somewhere years ago.

I could be wrong but doing a workout with jumping jacks and running on the spot etc. Wouldn't that be great for the muscle?

I do swim twice a week but I don't count it really as a 'workout'. I have fun with my friends by the pool and just swim around and have a laugh.

I also just recently got my pool opened and warmed up, and I wonder if some sort of HIIT would be possible in the pool?
I would just use this as a cardio supplement to weight lifting, not as a replacement.

same concept, swim like a mad man for a length then swim back at a slow pace.  Rinse and repeat.

I've never seen swimming as a way to exercise really, more fun.

I'll carry on blowing bubbles and seeing how long I can hold my breath under the water tyvm.

Horses for courses, nothing wrong in spending time in the pool for a laugh/good time.  Nevertheless swimming is a excellent workout, ever seen a srs swimmer? Mark Foster:

Of course diet and gym sessions will also play a part.  For those that want to inculde swimming as part of the muscular hypertrophy goals you're still sweating bukets while you're smashing the lengths, so take a drink with you to the pool.

It doesn't work your body like swimming does, or so I've heard.

If I'm looking for a good cardio workout and was looking to buy either a rowing machine or an exercise bike, which should I choose, and why? We have a lot of space under the house (can park a car or two under there) and I'm starting to get motivated. I figure if I buy a new piece of equipment by the time the novelty wears off I just might have a regular routine going to keep me in check.

Have you got free weights / a bench?

Rower.  Works every muscle therefore, total body workout & burns more calories than a bike.

I have weights but they're interstate, so I'll have to get some more. Haven't got a bench either.

Going to the doctor soon, I've been having pains in my knee for over a year now, and yesterday I experienced a very painful 'sting' in my left knee. I've been putting this off for way too long.. I'm guessing it's my meniscus or ligament; if that is the case, I'm not looking forward to revalidation, I'll be out for a very long time...

I would suggest you buy a cheap decent weight and a dumbbell/barbell set. Instead of either of those. You will get a much better workout. And will have all the equiptment for when you get your program. Plus you can just go for a run cycle outside.

This is getting bad. Been to 4 physios, 2 specialists and none of them can determine what is wrong with my arm.

I've had to be referred to get a Diagnostic Ultrasound.... Fuck sake.

I've noticed I'm getting a strange pain in my right elbow when I do anything involving triceps and heavy-ish weights.

If you bring your hand up to your shoulder and your elbow up, it'll make sort of a triangle. (When you're skinny at least..) I get the pain on the left point. I can't figure out if it's the ulna or humerus though...Although I'm leaning towards ulna.

Highly likely its tennis elbow i.e tendonitis.  Need to start strengthening the forearm.
