lrn2maths so you aren't such a presumptuous douche, insinuating I didn't watch the entire video before posting when I did.
This is what I said

Who the fuck is presuming now little boy?

I'm done with you. Permanently.
Either

a) You are assuming the time in which ghetto liq and I posted relative to each other has anything at all to do with the length of the video or

b) You think I didn't watch the video.

Either way, stupidity emanates from your direction like a foul stench.

Yeh but the lack of Flash support amongst other things makes it a bit shit tbh.  An Atom PC IS better, it's just a case of finding a decent screen.
how much money do you think you even save by doing that? I bet there wouldn't be much in it and you have the headache of all the extra wires and space being taken up, this is pretty simple and it looks good.
Fuck the money, I've never even mentioned the cost in that regard, I want it to do what I want it to do, not what some app programmer tells me I can.  The lack of flash support is actually a bit of a big deal for an application like that, 99% of the sites I'd actually have a use for in the kitchen (aka recipe video sites) use flash and don't have apps made for them.

Kinda like online shopping ... oh wait, that already exists
I'm talking about the ease of walking over to the gadget and tapping what you need without ever leaving the kitchen... as a matter of fact.. mount that mother in the fridge. lol
Lol Liq, Kerry is right.. it's kinda different Maybe some app that is like a "kitchen inventory".. so when you run out of certain items it automatically adds it to the list. You can then of course add additional items before sending the list to the local shops and (total amount payable) your bank.

It's not a matter of cost. If I had millions of dollars I wouldn't put that in my kitchen, its usefulness is marginal at best and it looks tacky.

You never even seen the damn PC. Doesn't matter if it's ugly. All you want is a nice screen. There are some great 22'' multitouch screens out.

I think it's a great idea for the kitchen.  Great for downloading recipes etc.  At home my wife and I do internet groceries so having this in the kitchen would help out too.

I'm definitely getting one.

OT: Looks cool but why in the cabinet of all places? I'd prefer it on a wall off to the side so you can glance at it from anywhere. And with people needing to get into the cabinet, could be very annoying if they're blocking the few and the door is opening/closing frequently.

I think it's pretty neat. Especially since you can just grab it out of the cabinet and take it with you if you'd like.

And how are you going to fit an Atom PC in a cabinet door? And why would you need flash in your kitchen anyway?

'twas a cool vid - really shows iPad potential. I want that in my kitchen :>

You guys are getting all pissy about wires and all this other stuff... Why build it yourself? Buy an EEE Top and throw your favorite Linux distro on there and you're done.

I think it should be pointed out that fm was actually right.

If you look at the timestamps he replied 5 minutes 43 sec after kmar. So he did have enough time to watch the entire video

Someone had to say it

That is exactly it. He assumed I was talking directly to and only him.. and that I was saying that he didn't watch it. I've called him a lot of things but never an out n out liar. My point was simply that those were quick responses, especially considering there was a video to watch. Not that "you didn't watch the video". I wouldn't have insinuated, I would have just said "Did you watch it?". TBH I can see how he would have thought that and I would have been perfectly willing to clarify had he not been a douche right out of the gate.

Idea is nice, placement is bad.  Under mount to the cabinet so that it can be tilted up and out of the way or be removed.  All of the wires are under the cabinet that way.

10 in touchscreen 200.00
atom pc 90.00 - 200.00
Memory 40.00 - 80.00
hard drive 60.00
Power supply 50.00
600.00

Assuming you have a OS, cables, and a way to under mount.
Hate the cabinet color as well.

The ready made touch apps (OS) is what makes it somewhat appealing. I thought it was an interesting implementation.

One of the most common criticisms has been that I've taken a mobile device and made it immobile. I have two answers to that; one, it is still mobile in that I can remove it very easily simply by sliding it up and out of the frame that it holding it in place, and two; who said the iPad was meant to be used exclusively as a mobile / portable device? If you watch the Apple ads, you’ll see that most of the actors using the iPad in the ads are sitting down - in fact when Steve Jobs first demonstrated the device a few months ago - he sat in an armchair on stage to use it! The fact is, great as it is, the iPad isn't actually very comfortable to use when walking around, I am always paranoid that I will drop it. Yes, it is great for toting from place to place, and great for using when sitting in the living room, coffee shop etc. but not so good for using when you are moving around.
I always imagined it as a coffee table device as well. .. or for sitting on the toilet, lol.
