BF2S Forums Have you ever had your opinion changed by a thread on DST?

It depends how you look at it and how you define "waste of time". If you want to entertain yourself (main reason for a forum) then it's not pointless. If you want to brush up on your debating skills then it's mostly not a waste of time. If you want to change someones opinion using logic, reason and facts then it is a waste of time. I can generally just see all sides to a debate now and am just apathetic to most arguments. I don't know there if there's a label for that...

And to answer, it depends if they're correct or not. You never know.

ANYONE that comes into this forum constantly ranting, raving, throwing fits, personally attacking, demanding you concede a point, etc..is a real life idiot.

For me, this is nothing but a time killer at the computer, while surfing, or working. To think that I am supposed to give a shit about how anyone feels about me on the internet is such a ludicrous notion to me, that it is almost incomprehensible.

I read these anti-lowing threads and posts and can not believe the energy some people put into hating an on-line personality that they don't even know in real life. I mean I have a good job, a loving family, I have never been in any kind of real trouble, because of the decisions I make for myself, I am giving and caring of my family, friends and co-workers yet I have got to be one of the most hated people in this forum and why? Because I have negative opinions about Islam, welfare, criminals, and people with a lack of personal responsibility. From this I have been called everything in the book, from A to Z. and it is assumed that my feelings have actually been hurt, while they pat themselves on the back acknowledging their cyber superiority to me. I guess the internet is the only thing some people have in life. What other explanation is there?

That is not to say that I have not had my moments in this forum, I certainly have, but it does not define my forum etiquette. I think I am, for most part, pretty respectful even of those with a habit of throwing personal attacks.

Yeah I guess the point is, who really cares if you change your opinion or not? I do not come here looking to have my opinion changed or to change anyone elses. I have a thought I post it, then I respond to the posts afterward. Do I learn a lot, hell yes I do, but to date no one has convinced me that my basic opinions of what I posted earier is all wrong.

Turq, FM, and ATG, have all changed my mind on something at one time or another.

I find it to be more about fleshing out your own true opinion than taking someone else's. Certain people have pushed my consistency to its limits.

I have altered my view on some things.  Can't recall what, but I've altered them.

I'd rather listen to an argument than just take as gospel the opinion of some e-construct.

'I've read a book therefore you're wrong' is not an argument

'I was in the marines therefore you're wrong' is not an argument

'I have more 'life experience' therefore you're wrong' is not an argument

This is an internet forum, the only value here is in the argument you put forward, something the blowhards don't get.
