Oh, of course. Those are the only things I can think of myself doing in 20, 25 years but I do keep in mind that the winds of change can make life topsy turvy.

I guess my most defined, near-term plans are getting my degree and hopefully a commission.

If you want to fly, LE isn't really compatible, unless you go helos and then it's really messed up because the AF is moving away from helos and toward CV-22 (still have some UH-60s, but not many).
Last I heard, the AF didn't even want to consider Cv-22s as a replacement for the HH-60s.  Granted, the Osprey replaced the MH-53s, but CSAR-X completely rejected the idea of tilt-rotors.
Then there are the Hueys at missile bases and VIP transport...

Did I miss something?
CSAR-X is so far off, and it's such a small fleet. Same with the Hueys. Not even sure the Hueys are going to stick around. I think there's some debate over that one. Regardless, very, very small community...much smaller than before.
True.  CSAR-X (or whatever they'll call it next time) is not even on the radar, AFAIK.  They'll have to replace/upgrade the HH-60s or cut CSAR eventually.  The fleet is going to dwindle to ineffectiveness within a few years, otherwise.
As to the Hueys, I'm surprised they are still around.  FE Warren had one that was in Vietnam (~2 years ago).
I'm probably wandering a little too far.  Sorry Hurricane.

Take 2-4 years ROTC in college then enlist as O-1

From there you can be a pilot if you please.

OP: Spend some time and learn the history of each branch before you make a decision. You don't want to join up thinking for the next several years "gee, I sure wish I went ____ instead..."

Join the Air Force and you're still Army, if only turncoat army.

As the saying goes:

The Navy navigates by the stars,
The Army sleeps under the starts,
and the Air Force chooses their motels by the stars.

Just depends which one appeals to you I know which one i'm going for haha

Also, when would you be entering whichever service you choose? 2010? 2011? 2012?

Well at least you still have a fair bit of time to reconsider (I'm assuming ROTC or whatever isn't a binding contract while under going training?)

Yeah I'm off to the Australian Defence Force Academy in 5 days Doing a degree there and my initial military training for RAAF. Will have a degree, job and commission in 3 years.

Sounds like your system is alittle different. Here when you apply for the air force, you apply for a specific job. You know whether you have the job or not before you officially sign up (its different for army). So if you get accepted as a pilot, you will be a pilot, you don't get shifted around (obviously you still won't be sure what aircraft you will get).

Cos that's what the military says. To be a commissioned officer in any of the services you need to attend one of the academies, do ROTC, do OCS (which requires a degree) or get a direct commission (which is for things like doctors and chaplains, who have degrees anyway). Don't ask me why, cos I can't tell ya

@LBJ yeah, I mean for enlisting into the armed forces you take the ASVAB and it tells the recruiter what jobs you're able to take (barring any other medical job disqualifiers). Then, if that job is available, you can get it put into your contract and you'll get that job. For commissioning though, it seems you make a 'wishlist' of your top branches (infantry, armor, aviation, signal, space & missile etc) and depending on your scores, grades and fitness you get something from that list.
