Okay I listened to wreckognize'd post by basically listening to one track from each album. i'm relying on you guys to tell me if i picked a bad track because i honestly have no idea. all i know is what sounds interesting. And I might not even be picking from the right album, I'm just going on youtube videos
I'll keep cracking on tomorrow, but have I missed the point? I'm listening and judging these songs in basically the same way I judge a rock/post-rock/classical song, based on control of melody, control of harmony, subtlety and layering etc - basically built up from classical music theory. Something is telling me this is completely the wrong way to approach good electronic music (I'm shying away from "mainstream" club electronica etc. because I find that a tad dull and predictable... wow, a bass drop, fucking special - I want to hear something a bit weird, a bit off-center in this genre, else I'd just go back to rock)
Kinda like what uzique was saying about glitch/noise etc how I wouldn't "get" it (all I know about glitch is the fragments of it on kid a, I have no idea how good a representation of the subgenre it is). How does one "get" electronica?
Listened to Master of Puppets - sorry, gotta agree with mtb here, very blandmtb0minime wrote:

Listened to "Konichiwa". Sounds interesting, nice bit of layering.Chequerboard - Gothica
Interesting, because it's a bit more unharmonic, more arrhythmic (which was sort of what I expected from good electronic).µ-Ziq - Lunatic Harness yes

Except one must have artists in one's library to find artists that are similar to said artist... if you get my driftThe Similar Artists tool on last.fm is a gold mine.
The paradox is only a conflict between reality and your feeling what reality ought to be.
