Look at that picture, that's one hefty rear end. Obviously he was speeding, and the other car she was in must have been stationary at a light or something. That's what it looks like. Plus being drunk inhibits your reactions, so that one picture just all points one big giant guilty. But I know there are cases of people drink driving, having an accident not of their own fault whatsoever but still getting the slam once the breath test comes along. But this ain't one of them.cpt.fass1 wrote:
Why don't we just outlaw Booze?
Still in Car Accidents like this one, I'd like to know what happened. Whose to say that the driver of her car didn't cause the accident?
Sorry for your loss, but in the picture it looks highly likely that the driver was in the left hand lane and could have moved over to right with out looking.

- My friend was killed by a drunk, hit and running piece of shit.
Still not so sure. I just don't like assuming things, Drinking does inable reaction time but so does texting.
Haven't seen any crash tests on those car but majority of modern cars are made to break away such as that to absorb instead of deflect. I don't see any skid marks on the road which everyone drunk or not would have tried to slam on the breaks.

Her car was stopped at a red light. Can't exactly see and avoid in that situation.Mekstizzle wrote:

I wish police could be like Judge Dredd in these cases... just grab the drunkard and leave him pushin' up daisies.
Lets not start this again. Part of checks and balances for the police never to have the power you propose. Maybe you forgot the word 'Sometimes'?Hurricane2k9 wrote:

As for outlawing booze: been there, tried that, did the exact opposite of the intention of the law. Made the mob lots and lots of money.

So now we have a girl who passed away and a drunk guy probably getting locked up for 12 years, who wins?
No one wins. No one should.cpt.fass1 wrote:

One DUI and you should lose your license for good. It's simply inexcusable.
If he's in jail, he can't kill anyone else. That's sorta the point of jail, stops you doing it again.cpt.fass1 wrote:

Actually the point of jail is for rehabilitation.ghettoperson wrote:

Well in a case like this is imprisonment the answer? Maybe make an ID that wouldn't allow him to purchase drinks or booze from a store? Which would be easy to implement, and less costly to tax payers.
He goes to a party. He won't touch the alcohol of course...cpt.fass1 wrote:

Yes. It's a punishment. They've proven themselves a danger to society (especially when they've had previous DUIs on their record).cpt.fass1 wrote:

While rehab for the first, non-victim DUI would be nice, if they continue to show that they are not changed by the rehab they should be locked up.
Also, requiring IDs for alcohol hasn't stopped its sale to minors.
edit: He also should be barred from ever buying a motor vehicle or getting a driver's license.

White was the passenger of a 2006 Toyota Scion that was stopped on Main Street and MacArthur Boulevard at a red light when a 2006 BMW sedan slammed into it around 2 a.m. Sunday. The impact pushed the Scion into the intersection causing it to collide with a Chevrolet Malibu that was going to make a left turn from westbound MacArthur to southbound Main, said Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna. The BMW also spun into the intersection and struck a Toyota Corolla, which was behind the Malibu waiting to make a left turn, Bertagna said. After the crash, Serrano got out of the BMW and ran from the scene of the accident. He was later arrested, Bertagna said. White was taken to a hospital where she died from her injuries, Bertagna said. The driver of the Scion was also taken to the hospital. The other two drivers were not injured.
So was that picture from the accident? Because it's daytime in that photo?
Yeah hours after it happened, in the morning I suppose.
