i guess i got fucked then.

i get a $3000 bonus for doing that high school rotc shit though.
Unless you've already shipped out to Benning for BCT (which you haven't I assume) you can walk out on your contract or renegotiate it. It's not until you swear in the second time on the day you ship out that you are legally bound to your contract. Talk to the people at MEPS ASAP if you really want airborne. Now is the only time that you will have any leverage when dealing with the military. You have the power to walk away and they know it.
yup, exactly.  they might even tell youthat you cant but you can.  The second swearing in is the one that matters.

I had a good recruiter. He didn't tell me a single lie because he never actually had to recruit me. I called him. He even told me on the day he was driving me to MEPS on my ship out date that I could still back out and didn't have to go. I still have a lot of respect for that ammo dawg

MEPS guy is screwing you around then. Tell him to fuck off, give you exactly what you want, or you walk down the hall to the Marine recruiter.

What did you score on the ASVAB and what was your GT score on it? If you're dumb as a box of rocks you don't have a leg to stand on in the negotiations

Ahh. I had 3/4 of a year in college before I decided I was bored and wanted to enlist (also in 2000). I got a 94 on the ASVAB and a 126 GT score so they offered me everything under the sun when I went to MEPS. I originally just wanted to do two years as infantry but I let the MEPS guy talk me out of it. He told me I was too smart for the infantry I walked out with $50k ACF, a $6k bonus and jump school.
Brains McBrainison?

I scored a 73.  Got a 114 GT so you know, anything over 110...

I was originally gonna do 3 years, then the last second I said 4 and ended up doing 5 cus of that 1st cav stop loss for Iraq. Got out in 05 and started going to JC when I dumbed down again and joined the Reserve and reclassed as psyop thinking it will help my resume.  Turns out psyop isnt all its cracked up to be.  Some cool shit, but I still missed the infantry and I wasnt going to join the NG or active duty so i let my time run out last year and Ive been catching up with school since.
That's cool man. I got hit with the same stop-loss you did. I was supposed to get out in Sep '04 and ETS'd in Apr '05. I was pissed too because half my unit was sitting around with their thumb up their ass in Iraq but they wouldn't send anyone home. I missed a year of school because of my dumbfuck colonel.

Btw, go here: https://www.stoplosspay.army.mil/Default.aspx You'll get a check for $500 for every month you were stoplossed.
that stop loss was a motherfucker.  Although, I was always getting into trouble in garrison, I enjoyed deployment a whole lot better (other than the losing homies and staying awake for days).  I ve had more than one 45/45 under my belt, I deployed as an e-1.  I made more money collecting unemployment than I did for most of my deployment up until they threw me a couple of bones and bumped me back to e-3 ( i enlisted as an e-3, more than 4 years prior) to try and get a reenlistment out of me.

I need to find my dd214 for that stop loss pay.  I should eligible for 6 thousand.

I deployed as an E-4, came home as an E-2 and spent my last 45 days on ED My roommate got busted with liquor and instead of taking his lumps, hid his liquor bottles behind my tv when we had a health and welfare the next day. Apparently possession is guilt even though I hadn't had any of it to drink.

i took the asvab during my junior year in high school. got like a 78 on it. didn't take it seriously, and they said that was a good enough score to get what i want which was 11B.

You should be fine then. Threaten to go to the marine recruiter if he won't give you airborne. Your recruiter will jump all over the MEPS guy too if he's in danger of losing his quota.

He probably isn't, although it seems the Army's always hurting for recruits compared to the other branches.

He was E-4(P) too When I stood before the BC he gave me some schpiel about how my roommate got a tougher sentence than I did because he lost his promotable status. They dropped us both down to E-2 and 45/45. People wonder why I hate the army so much...

e-4(p), that brings back memories. haha.  Some really cool friends turned into some major assholes the second they went to the board.  What really killed it for me was how so many people were getting promoted when they shouldnt have.  A lot of it based more on brown nosing and less on merit or experience.  Then, when i join the reserve, i see cats that spent 3 years as reservists getting their first rocker.  couldnt believe that shit, people without any deployment time even.  prior service 3 year sailors who etsed in the 90s getting their stripes 6 months after changing branch.

When i enlisted, NCO had that aura of importance, and seeing how unimportant that rank actually was (especially with psyop, where there are more officers than usual when you have to share a drill hall with a civil affairs battalion where the average rank is O-3) really did it for me to say fuck redeploying to iraq and get my degree.   My psyop unit came back and my neighbor (who happens to be a soldier in that unit as well) was 30K richer, but still at a JC and considering californias university budget, wont transfer until 2011.  Im certain I made the right decision

Ha, rank didn't mean much in my unit. It was basically a reward for re-enlisting. The E-4(p) that I'm talking about happened to be lucky enough to be a wigger in a section with a seriously racist black dude leading it. My section sergeant hated my guts so he wasted no time backing the BF when it came time to stand before my CO.

I'm sorry that you're feeling inadequate as a man and feel the need to verbally assault those who have done something with their lives rather than being someone who sits at uni and lifts his skirt for anyone who has the right hint of snobbery in his voice. Get over yourself.

As for ending my life, I'll get right on that. We can do a Jonestown thing. You drink the punch first though.
