well, yeah. but they also do some really extreme stuff - really stupid shit, like refusing blood transfusions even in life threatening situations, they do not even allow their children to be given those. i've read several stories about (russian, i dunno about other counries) medical specialists that had to sue the bastards in court so they could save the poor kids - luckily, afaik, the courts have always been giving the permission for this even against the parents will.Varegg wrote:

One of my son's home care nurses is a JH. Seems contradictory, I know. Sometimes we wonder if that's the source of some of the problems we have with getting her to provide the level of care needed...or if it's just that she's new to pediatrics. We tend to go with the latter, as we've seen no indications of the former in other aspects of having her in our home.
My main experience with odd religions is Mormons from when I lived in Utah for three years. They stopped coming to my door when I said things like, "It's so weird. Elder is such an uncommon first name. What are the odds of both of you having it?!" Plus having some inside info from one of my best friends being LDS made the question and answer sessions fun.

On abortion in the US as it is not protected by the constitution, it is up to the states itself to create such laws. However, if the mother's body is at risk all states will allow abortions. Or people just fly up to another state.
I was walking home and two rode past me on bikes and started talking to me. They asked what my interests were I said computer games they said what else I said nothing. Then I got to my house at which point they started asking me about jesus. And he asked "dont you want to know your ultimate purpose in life?" and I said "no". He's just like increduslous and all dat and "what?" A bit more back and forth and they invited me to join them on their sunday sports club or w/e at the local park to get to know about them better. i'm too polite. Wasted half an hour talking about god with them.
I tried to reason, was like "well no-one can really no for sure whats out there" and he's like "well I know for sure" "jesus spoke to me" etc. I'm glad I just escaped with a pamphlet
