Since you don't know by now, yet probably should, I'll fill you in on a secret.

Approval ratings aren't something a President is going to bother reading, or caring about, unless an election is imminent.

I haven't read any announcements yet, but whatever he does, it will be ridiculed. If he puts in more troops, he's continuing an unwinnable war and simply killing Americans, if he pulls out or slows down, people will call him a weak leader who lost the war. Either way, this guy is screwed. He knows it. But at the end of the day it's all about doing the right thing

Wow! He finally made a decision?

That's going to be expensive isn't it? I heard it costs $1 million per troop deployed, per year - on average. That's an extra $34 billion a year out of the taxpayers pockets (or added onto national debt - same thing). Ouch.

Everything I heard said that he wouldn't announce his decision until AFTER thanksgiving... so I have no idea what's going on here.

They should've kept the horses instead

Makes you think who really are Supplying the Taliban, they don't have many friends in terms of being able to supply them, they've got the money, that's for sure, but then who accepts their money in return for arms? It can't be Iran or Russia, or China/North Korea or anything like that.

From what I see, most of their weapons comes from either when the Soviets were there, or the weapons supplied to them from the US/Allies when the Soviets were there, or weapons taken from NATO forces there right now. I don't think they actually have a supply of weapons/ammo themselves, there's probably so much in Afghanistan already because of the last few decades that it's more than enough for everyone

1. Former Northern-Alliance Warlords and Afghan officials seeking for new funds to maintain their expensive prestige postion.
2. Western aid groups, sending money and naïvely transporting "aid goods" through the country.
3. Italians.

I'll take a guess and say Halliburton, KBR, really any company that contracts with the military. Companies like Sikorsky do provide things like helicopters, but those really don't get shot down often so the military doesn't buy that many.

I thought of PMC's but then I would assume the more troops that get sent the less demand for PMC's, so I'm leaning towards the supply of kit and ammo side. Innit
