I'm neither but I am a conservative and believe in small government and personal responsibility. This President doesn't think us "Americans" can live with out him and his agenda. I humbly believe he is completely wrong. What do you say about these comments?

EDIT: This close to finishing what job? Health Care Reform? I seriously doubt that's all he's thinking.

One little bit of misinformation comes out and all of a sudden every single one of them starts parroting it, then act outraged when facts that disprove their views are slammed back at them in force.

In the context of the speech, he's right. When the GOP had the House and Senate, their legislation was able to just get rammed on through and approved right through Bush. Right or wrong, the GOP just voted however the party wanted them to vote rather than talking about it. Now, the Democrats are actually discussing and debating legislation within their own party. Even the left-wing pundits don't go along with everything Obama says...criticism and critical thinking go a long way, and is much better in the long run than just blindly shoving out legislation.

As for the parroting, any of the healthcare debate issues definitely suffice for my point. Luntz's memo instigated the talking points and political buzzwords to be used by Republicans opposed to healthcare reform..."Rationing," "government takeover," "bureaucrats," etc. By constantly and consistently instilling these words into every one of their speeches, as untrue as they are, they've just gone on to prove that if you repeat lies often enough, they eventually become the perceived truth by people who don't know any better (i.e., teabaggers).

Umm, the three words you mentioned are extremely true, not untrue in the slightest. I think you need to be one of those open minded people you're talking about and start looking at the issues and costs for yourself instead of listening to your neighbors out there in The Mission.

I'm in the Sunset, thank you very much, and no, the words from his memo are Untrue. If you read the memo, it's a distinct instruction manual on how to use words to scare the public into their favor and is not based on any fact.

When that huge email went out that called out several parts of H.R. 3200, several Republicans and right-wing talking heads came out using that as a basis for their arguments, and continued to stick with their messages even after every single point in the email was disproved or shown to be a drastic twisting of words. Again, they kept copying each others' messages in order to drive the Party point home, as false as it was, and the damage was done after they just kept repeating themselves ad nauseum.

Many of the D's were right on board too. That's called bipartisanship. Just because you don't see debate on the floor doesn't mean that it hasn't taken place elsewhere. In politics deals are made and votes are traded. The GOP just doesn't want to look like collective group of splintered special interests. Blindly shoving out legislation? Really? c'mon now. Obama's budget? How he wanted to rush through Healthcare? Do you really think that had the R's not gone on the offense with the healthcare bill that the D's would have put the brakes on it? Really? Actual discussion and debate? With the minority party locked out? Great Uniting Obama. What are they even debating? "how far left we can get away with pushing the country before our asses get voted out the work is undone?"
