That's just a kick in the balls to all previous and future winners. Means fuck all now.

Let's face it, they are both worthless leaders so that aside which is REALLY more appealing and deserving of a peace prize.
President Palin you are hear by awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for being the most powerful hot peace of ass the world has known. That is what I can take pride in as an american vs some half breed wanna be black muslim poser that can't even let out a good " wha-cha talkin' 'bout Wallace " during an interview.
I wouldn't say that. I'd say it just alleviates this years.DrunkFace wrote:

I just read the last four pages and it might as have been script from Fox news. What a bunch of spinny garbl'd gook.
Don't you find it hard to find something negative to say about a president winning the nobel peace prize?
Doesn't mean you can't try like this "some half breed wanna be black muslim poser"
PBO won, big deal, we have two wars still going on, go figure the award would go to a wartime president, I guess its because he hasn't started a new war, yet.
And I have no doubt that the religious right are going to turn this into a "its a sign he's the anti-christ called Mabus as described by Nostradamus" crap. Like those type of people need any help from supposedly sane people to whip themselves into a frenzy.
And stop with the President Palin being a hot piece of ass... I just ate lunch and almost hurled. But if you like saggy and three kids sloppy, all the more power to you I guess. Whatever floats your boat.
You will respect Obama's win, or we will bomb you

His win makes perfect sense. It's bizarre to see so many people so critical of it.
He fits perfectly with the profile of previous winners (you guys all seem to be under the impression that the peace prize is about actual peace). There has been a definite shift in global attitudes towards diplomacy since he came to power, much of which can be directly attributed to his appointment. When you add to that various contributions to tackle climate change and nuclear non-proliferation (both with Iran and his plans to reduce domestic stockpiles) it makes perfect sense.

I suppose you are so wrapped up in Obama's glory, that you really never stopped to understand the fact that the guy has not done a single thing to earn a nobel prize. No kept promises, no great world changing deeds. Nothing.Diesel_dyk wrote:

By the way, he is in the same great company as Yassar Arafat. Pretty much tells me a Nobel peace prize coupled with a dollar will buy you a coke out of any coke machine in the US.

I've supported Obama on many issues and supported him in the election. I'm not blind, though (unlike some here). I don't think he really did anything to warrant winning an award as high as this. Yes, he's the POTUS...but that doesn't mean I have to pledge allegiance to him and support everything about him.Diesel_dyk wrote:

Nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize are due by February.
So.. Obama was nominated for his astounding (soon to be forthcoming, nothing but a thought now) accomplishments after having been President for a couple weeks?
That means I can get a multi-million dollar executive bonus from a major auto company, just for submitting a resume to them, right?
It's no longer the Nobel Peace Prize. Apparently now it's the Swedish Political Posturing Award
As it has been for a few years now;
Le Duc Tho, Anwar Sadat, Yassir Arafat, Jimmy Carter.
ALL awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 'good intentions' that were never delivered on (at best).
It's ludicrous to award such a prestigious prize to someone based merely on the hype of the moment, with no concrete accomplishments apparent.
It cheapens the award for those that have truly accomplished something.

Norway hands out the Peace Prize, Sweden hands out the rest of them (Physics, Chemistry, Literature, Physiology & Medicine).
Not that I agree with Obama getting the Nobel Peace prize, (I think it just must've been a slow year,) but instead of puting it down to the "Everyone loves Obama and we're creating a cult of personality here" negative opinion think about what this says.
Obama hasn't done much yet. In fact the only reason I can see for him getting the prize is just his speeches and gestures rather than his actions. But the shift from Dubya's "We're gonna go in there and sort 'em out" to Obama's "We'll let's actually see if we can sort something out with diplomacy first" is an incredibly big deal, maybe not in America but certainly in the rest of the world.
Anyway, he said he felt unworthy, he's giving the prizemoney to charity and it wasn't his decision in the first place so let's try if we can maybe keep this from being fuel to the "I hate Obama" fire.

Nominated 12 days into office.
GG, Jesus Obama.
Nobel prizes don't mean anything anymore.

although really, how could we resist giving the peace prize to the rebirth of the messiah
this is an outrage. I demand summary executions. Henry Kissinger must be rolling over in his unmarked, desecrated, shallow grave.
If you ask me the obvious choice for this year should've been Morgan Tsvangirai, he's the most deserving in my opinion.
